(continuation from: A Community of Election and Order)

Part 1 

Establishing the Law of the Covenant

Brenton LXX: Num_7:1  And it came to pass in the day in which Moses finished the setting-up of the tabernacle, that he anointed it, and consecrated it, and all its furniture, and the altar and all its furniture, he even anointed them, and consecrated them.
Num 7:2  And the princes of Israel brought gifts, twelve princes of their fathers’ houses: these were the heads of tribes, these are they that presided over the numbering / επισκοπηςG1984 (Genetive) “the Bishop”
Num 7:3  And they brought their gift before the Lord, six covered waggons, and twelve oxen; a waggon from two princes, and a calf from each: and they brought them before the tabernacle.

KJV: Tit_ 1:5  For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain Elders in every city, as I had appointed thee:
Tit 1:6  If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
Tit 1:7  For a Bishop ( the Numberer)  must be blameless, as the steward of God

So often we read the New Testament and interpret what it says as we think of it in out time and place, in modern terms, or we may even ask what the surrounding cultures around Judah / Judea would have thought this means, as those people who lived under the Roman culture of the empire, or what way did one of the sundry and various Hellenic / Greek-ish peoples use these Greek words to represent, Words such as Epi-scopon and Presbyterous / Over-seer and Elder. When we define Titus or Timothy or any of the NT Scriptures by an out side source or culture including a historical culture as we think they thought at that time, we are engaged in Anachronism or lit. Time again-ism, that is we impose the Ideas from another time and place ‘another chronos’ into the bible in order to make sense of it. Some people even take the Law of God and compare it to other middle eastern cultures like the Canaanites or Syrians who we know more about from archeological finding and other written material than we do ancient Israel, and then they say Israel was like these people at this time, and we must then even filter the Law, the most fundamental and foundational part of the Israelite Faith through the fragmented concepts we have discovered archeologically of a heathen people, though the law plainly tells us in

Deu_7:6  that Israel is and was and will be “… a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth.

It is not correct for us to believe in the Bible as an inspired book containing the inspired Law of the Eternal God – YHWH, and for us to not understand the inspired Apostles words by use of the lawful meaning the Eternal God has revealed to Israel his holy people, chosen to be his treasure possession out of all the peoples on earth.

The majority of our knowledge of Hebrew Culture comes from the bible, which is in fact the most complete and succinct record of an ancient people that exists in chronological form; a confirmable story telling us of a people from creation to 21 generations after where God gives this land and covenant of promise to Abraham, and from Abraham to Jesus wherein there was 42 generations as Mat_1:17  tells us.

I bring this information forward to preface the remainder of this look at Titus because our book of ancestry, history and law is a complete book preserved in such fashions to be used for Reform and Reconstruction of the Biblical Commonwealth, the Commonwealth of Israel as the Apostle Paul speaks of it in Ephesians 2 in contrasting those who are alien from the commonwealth vs.. those who are citizens of it in times past, as well as into this present future. ( Eph_2:1-22 )

Thus, in order to understand what legal terms are referring to in any part of the book we call scripture and therefore that which we recognize as God inspired, (2Ti_3:16) we need an equally sufficient source of definition, and we find this in God’s law.

This the concept of ‘sufficiency of scripture:

Sola scriptura= Scripture Alone + Tota Scriptura= All of Scripture = Sufficiency of Scripture

And how do we understand God’s Law?

There are many places we can go to in the scripture to simply see how God uses that which is natural to communicate that which is spiritual, but a scripture which comes forth to my thought is:

Psa_139:13  For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb.
Psa 139:14  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.
Psa 139:15  My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.
Psa 139:16  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

David says

Psa_ 119:27  LXX -Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate (KJV. Talk / Heb. Syach- to ponder – that is to ‘talk to your self’) on your wondrous works.

We are told in

Isa_6:3  that the Seraphim before the Lord cry unto another… Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

In considering the wondrous works of God in the glory of all creation which heaven and earth witness to and that witness in application to God’s precepts of His Law certain natural orders arise to be considered.
As we can organically speak of understanding agricultural laws regarding plants and animals, As we can talk about time keeping principles of Law from the organic source of the lights of heaven. These are the marvelous works of God in nature, in the natural creation according to the order YHWH God has marvelously commanded them.
This is no different when we consider the creation of one of God’s people, from the time our members our individual parts were only written in God’s book, before they were even constructed in the womb of your mother.
The laws which direct the living of the family order as we find in God’s Law are the precepts of how this organic creation is to be governed no differently, showing how this wondrous work of the creation of God’s people is to become a government of this natural order.
In other words, children will grow and become young men and women by nature… it will happen, The fathers of those young men will become old men & women, and the young men will become old men, the young women will become old women, the mothers who bore the children will become Elder women and the Fathers Elders, and of these multiplying people Government will quickly be needed and the Presbytery of Israel’s Law, the Eldership , oversight and headship is the God inspired and preserved order of that Family’s structure.
The Family is a creation made and ordained by YHWH GOD ruler of heaven and earth, and God has instituted the development of the mind of man in such a way that wisdom and understanding increase with age in the common sense, particularly to the man who has observed the growth of his own Children and has helped to guide them with the intention of prolonging the days of his genetic linage, his generations, especially his Godly lineage.
Nature witnesses that age until the point of mental degradation , if that occurs, brings with it certain understand of life, animals are no different in nature, an older deer knows how to avoid the hunter better than young. These are marvelous works made by a glorious God who as revealed to Adam him morality and will for their life in application to these observable truths of nature.

Like David said in Psa_119:27  LXX -“Make me understand the way of your precepts, and I will meditate upon your wondrous works”, it is God’s granting of understanding that allows fallen Adam man to recognize the way, the road or the path of God’s Law that we can even meditate or talk with our selves and others concerning how this created world around us as it is seen in heaven and earth as it is to be lived in to the glory of God Alone.
It is also too wonderful for me to know this.

As the Psalm read in part prior states in

Psa_139:6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high, I cannot attain unto it.
Psa 139:7  Whither shall I go from thy spirit? or whither shall I flee from thy presence?

This thought as it happens in meditation of the wondrous works of every one of God’s Elect is the mark of a life endowed with the ability to know the paths of the Lord if he applied his God given reason to the Law of God in an attempt to understand the natural order as it has been wondrously preserved for us by another wonderful work of God that is super – natural in the preservation of the scripture.
It is a super-natural act we as brute beasts have to be thankful of in the LORD’s giving of understanding of his ways and ability to see us no matter where we are, it is called Faith and it is the super-natural giving Grace that David is describing in Psa_139:1, that allows animalistic man to consider the ways of God’s wonderful works by the prior understanding placed in his mind by God to even care about the Precepts of God’s Law.
This Election applied to the family order as it is seen in the Law shows how the church / ecclesia, that is literally the called out, those called out to worship YHWH God as the body of Christ, as his bride adopted into the family of Heaven and earth of which they are named the Israel of God, this Called-Out people are the those of Israel’s race that are truly people holy (set apart) to the LORD your God. Which YHWH your God has chosen to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth, those people that are chosen to hear this message have need to ask them selves How must I live in this world Lord, what is the best way to filter this wondrous world around us which God has made?
The answer is by God’s Law, this is why it has been preserved for us, so that we may have the needed law of reformation and reconstruction in times like this, which we find our selves in today.

This Called out people comprised of the Israel of God need order as Paul said to Titus:
Tit_1:5  For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and ordain elders in every city, as I had appointed thee.
This order is not intrinsic to nature as it would have been in the first generation of Adam man made in the image of God, rather the shadow we have of what is left of this image is vague even when Adam is at his best, even after one’s faith has developed in Christ by the work of God in the giving of Grace to a dead sinner made in the likeness of Adam, even after forgiveness of sin is confirmed to our heart we have a heart that is desiring God to teach us understanding of his law which his Covenant that is made New to us by the blood of Jesus says:

Heb_8:10  For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
Heb_8:11  And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
Heb 8:12  For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
Heb 8:13  In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Because the context and thrust of scripture speaks to our need for God to renew us and make us alive to Him by Jesus Blood because of our faulted flesh (Heb_8:6-8), we have a superior promise made in this covenant to beseech God to do his work of the covenant and to write his law upon our heard as we have him as our teacher, that we do know him and know we are forgiven.

This Called-Out people have the greatest access to reading the words of this Law written on our heart and in our mind as we identify with them from inspired / spirit breathed scripture.
And in the case of the organizing, ordering and government of the Church as it functions as a commonwealth of the wonderfully made family of God, both by nature and by super-nature, it is of the greatest importance for this chosen people to organize and govern them selves according to the dictates of the divine conscience as is contained in the Eternal law of God in all that was given to Moses.

And so, yes, this is a long way to affirm the ground work of what I often suppose most people know concerning the way we read the New Testament and interpret what it says as not to anachronistically interpret what is eternally secured in scripture and confirmed by preservation of the word of God and how that word applies in our physical word NOW as well as yester day, and how we can understand Not only what the Apostles say to the 1st century church, but what the 21st century can do with the same as we know that Paul is only confirming every word of Moses no differently than Joshua did directly after Moses death, or than every Prophet did also.
We do not ask what the modern or ancient anti-Christ jews thing of these scriptures in the time of Paul or in the time of Moses, we consult the Law of God as it is preserved in the Hebrew bible and the Greek Septuagint to understand the Greek New testament, what the surrounding cultures around Judah / Judea would have thought this means is not important to us in determining doctrine, what those people who lived under the Roman culture of the empire, or what way did one of the sundry and various Hellenic / Greek-ish peoples use these Greek words to represent have thought this means is not important to Christians in determining our doctrine, Words such as we’ve already looked at and will consider again, such as: Epi-scopon and Presbyterous / Over-seer and Elder.

When we define Titus or Timothy or any of the NT Scriptures we define it by inspired scripture, by God’s just as we define and filter the modern world around us, not by an out side source or culture including a historical culture as we think they may have thought at that time.
We use the Heart and mind given to us by the Spirit of God in application to the spirit breather word of God, not interpret it as we feel, but to apply it to the Glory of God our savior who has given the blood of His son to make this Covenant applicable to all ages, world with out end.
