Church Government

(continuation from: A Community of Election and Order)

Part 12

A Right to Defend Family Worship

Exo_20:12

Honor (value) thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which YHWH thy God giveth thee.

Lev_19:32

Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head,

and honor the face of the old man/ Presbyter (πρεσβυτερων),

and fear thy God: I am YHWH.

(G4245 Presbyter: (elderly); older, old one)

Last week I touched upon the ransom offering of the children of Israel, as what some call the soldiers ransom, that I suppose was instituted at these 3 times in a year, or as the Sanctuary determined by the Law.

Exo_30:12  When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them.
Exo 30:13  This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD.
Exo 30:14  Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD.
Exo_30:15  The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.
Exo 30:16  And thou shalt take the atonement silver of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.

Exo_38:25  And the silver of them that were numbered of the congregation was an hundred talents, and a thousand seven hundred and threescore and fifteen shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary:
Exo 38:26  A bekah for every man, that is, half a shekel, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for every one that went to be numbered, from twenty years old and upward, for six hundred thousand and three thousand and five hundred and fifty men.

Some men have called this a “poll tax”, I have tried to follow the logic of the use of this verse in such a way to support the poll tax of the US and the UK and I see the similarities,  at least an attempt to reform to biblical standard in civil matters but, again the problem is a lack of desire to return to the biblical law by a more exactness of the letter,  as the seeping poison of anti-nomianism sank into the church who was once the champion of God’s Law and an instructor in society, this too became anathema.

The verse says of the of the half shekel or bekah “When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them…” , this “when” was understood in Nehemiah’s reform as a once in a year “giving” of the Numbered men.
Atonement money /silver that is part of the numbering process, and thus part of the local Overseers job as the Episcope of the family. This is that a Numberer will number his men who have come of age and has given the ransom silver voluntarily via his father and his father’s head of 10, and 50, and 100 and 1000, and at the times appointed for such which is at the National and Federal gatherings of Israel appointed by God to happen 3 times a year.
I suppose a case may be made for a young man to come before the priest personally under his prince and head of his tribe as a special time of confirmation and ransom, at which time this man acknowledges his sin and it’s need for atonement before God and man and takes a personal responsibility for his own actions as a man of God.
The silver is appoint for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel. This Silver was used for various services of the Sanctuary such as those works to be made for worship and memorial listed in Exodus 38 and that which is spoken of in the days of Nehemiah.

Neh_10:32  Also we made ordinances for us, to charge ourselves yearly with the third part of a shekel for the service of the house of our God;
Neh 10:33  For the shewbread, and for the continual meat offering, and for the continual burnt offering, of the Sabbaths, of the new moons, for the set feasts, and for the holy things, and for the sin offerings to make an atonement for Israel, and for all the work of the house of our God.

It is important to notice the words “we made …for us”, as in the times of National Reformation and revival the Law was it’s own ordinance as it was directed by Moses, but the modern people were in need of recognizing this law as important to be implemented in the life of the nation, especially one that is reviving from the death of captivity.

This is an important working part of a Israel’s resurrection because, the Ransom Silver is the recognition of 3 important repentances of Israel:

1. That YHWH is God and deserves to be praised and worshiped
a. that praise and worship is to be according to God’s own Word and Law
b. that the Law of God teaches the path for national repentance

2. that God’s Law teaches allegiance to the Family order as a Nation
a. in terms of honor to parents and patriarchs and Elders
b. and in terms of holy worship by that unite

3. that The Law of God teaches that the implementation of the Law of God upon the Israelite family who are bound to worship together by God’s Word as the regulative principle of worship will produce armies by a natural recourse.

And this is why the institution of Holy Worship according to the Law of God is the link between Judgment and War in the Presbyterian Episcopate Government of National Christian Israel, it is because a people who have proper leadership of fathers to worship according to the Law will desire to worship together, and those who desire the freedom to worship God as their conscience is bound by the Word of God will defend their right to worship together and to be judges by their own people.
True freedom and true liberty for a Holy people is to have no hindrance upon their family to Worship peaceably and to protect that right to Worship by all the blood in their veins, all the money in their pockets and all the air in their lungs: Yea, all of their heart, mind and Soul and strength… with every bit of might God will grant a Godly people, that they will progress to worship more perfectly.
The age of 20 years old is an important age in an Israelite man’s life according to Scripture to that end.
Let’s consider this Age as it was that time the Numbering accounted towards the help of a young man in maintaining the Sanctuaries Holy Worship, and what else this age represented.

Num_1:3  From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

Num_1:18  And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by the house of their fathers, according to the number of the names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls.

Num_1:45  So were all those that were numbered of the children of Israel, by the house of their fathers, from twenty years old and upward, all that were able to go forth to war in Israel;

Num_14:29  Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me,
Num_26:2  Take the sum of all the congregation of the children of Israel, from twenty years old and upward, throughout their fathers’ house, all that are able to go to war in Israel.
Num_26:4  Take the sum of the people, from twenty years old and upward; as the LORD commanded Moses and the children of Israel, which went forth out of the land of Egypt.
Num_32:11  Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me:

And so it is this age that we find as the lawful age of accountability for willful sin as well.
It is interesting to notice that in these examples, warfare is often the circumstance surrounding the scenario. In the case of the proclamation of the death of the 20 year olds and up ward, it should be known that Moses commanded an attack upon Canaan and the people all refused (but Joshua and Caleb), and then it is due to this fear and rebellion God Judges the people as unfaithful to inherit the land in that generation, and so God raises up a warrior people of faith in the next generation under the pure instruction of these 3 pillars of faith in Israel: Moses, Joshua and Caleb.

So a Biblical and Lawful age of accountability is consistently tied to the Numbering of the people, for all the prior aspects of Oversight:
1. Judgment, 2. Worship, 3. War, and so we have this example.

(It is by this principle we recognize one’s adult baptism as his or her cleansing as if he were to first appear before the Lord by his or her own recognition at this time and accountable for ones own soul’s choices at this age.
And no differently this is why we reserve the right to drink the wine of the New Covenant in the Celebration of the Lord’s Supper until this age as well.
Not because we have a direct law which commands thus shall be done at this time but because like the congregation in the wilderness it is at this time you are choosing to identify with your family as members of Christ in particular, and to practice the reforming Faith Scripture and to defend the Christian Faith to peach its Law and Gospel as part of a Christian Nation.
This is why we apply these aspects of worship at this time, for these same reasons, and it is for this reason we should also reform back to the use of the Bekah as well, to establish Israel’s Judges, Worship and Armies by a the rule of Faith. )

So I think the age of Numbering is pretty firmly established, as the time when a man gives his allegiance to the sanctuary through his father’s headship, and this is connected to worship and now warfare in one great ransom or covering atonement, of course not to be in any form of replacement for the over arching Atonement of Jesus Christ’s blood in Gen_3:15.

We are going to fully turn our attention to the subject of warfare, while never forgetting or ignoring the context we have prior laid as it is understood to the Israelite tribal family structure of the Presbyterian Episcopate, that is in relationship to Judgment and Worship, as a combined effort of the Overseer of the Paternal tribe (one of the 12 tribes) and the Scribe or Officer of the tribe of Levi.

Now, there is a case to be made, to suggest that another power structure is to be established under the Episcopate Headship that consists of Military Officers which are distinct from the normal Judicial officers the Grammataus which come forth of the Levites in matters of Judgment and Worship and that these Officers are a particular appointment of Military Heads not differently than we have in the more modern military structure, that is that these men of over 20 years who have given their Half weight of Silver (Bekah) to the Sanctuary have in their ranks men who are equipped by particular vocations in the art of War, and that while the Officers of the Levites are instrumental in the arraignment of the battle and to encourage and the men in worship and spiritual leadership in battle as is said in

the Law of the Silver trumpets:

Num_10:8  And the sons of Aaron, the priests, shall blow with the trumpets; and they shall be to you for an ordinance for ever throughout your generations.
Num 10:9  And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an alarm with the trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be saved from your enemies.
Num 10:10  Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.

It is not the usual happening of battle that we would have the Levitical type of Officer that is the companion of the Overseeing Judge to actually fight in the battle, but rather we see a more distinct group being the captains and officers of the war, these are and ordained for a time of War by the State as sent out from among the people of the Units for the Battle, but of these men of war that come to fight from th tribal states a selection is affected by the Priestly Levites in charge of the 1000 to make a selection of the men in an appointment, in the case of
the “going forth to war against thine enemies”. so a mustering, and time to do battle offensively or defensively, and while in the case of Defense a system as it is directly corresponding to the Unites of 10, 50, 100, 1000 will have it’s own way to respond as a militia, or as we understand the National guard to be the local defense in a time of invasion, this too would have a need to be distinct from the offending army that is “going forth to war against thine enemies”, as a standing and ready, well regulated militia should be an intrigue part of the family churches organic structure and thus allocated to the realm of the state outside of the appointment of the Levite and priest, as again, it stands upon the shoulders of the Heads of the Government as it is.
But, if the assault upon a territory, and the people thereof, is a long lasting assault (in a defensive position) or if the people are mustering or mobilizing to “go out against the enemy” then naturally that a more precise army is appointed.
So it is important to remember while all war is either offensive or defensive, when even a defensive army attacks leadership must be appointed for that time to truly offend the enemy and protect what ground is had.
And so this appointment is left to the 3rd party over sight of the Sanctuary that is a priest which is appointed by the Sanctuary for this very cause.

Deu_20:1  And if thou shouldest go forth to war against thine enemies, and shouldest see horse, and rider, and a people more numerous than thyself; thou shalt not be afraid of them, for the Lord thy God is with thee, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.
Deu 20:2  And it shall come to pass whenever thou shalt draw nigh to battle, that the priest shall draw nigh and speak to the people, and shall say to them,
Deu 20:3  Hear, O Israel; ye are going this day to battle against your enemies: let not your heart faint, fear not, neither be confounded, neither turn aside from their face.
Deu 20:4  For it is the Lord your God who advances with you, to fight with you against your enemies, and to save you.
Deu_20:5  And the scribes/ SeTaR H7860/ scribes / grammateus G1122 shall speak to the people, saying, What man is he that has built a new house, and has not dedicated it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the war, and another man dedicate it.
Deu 20:6  And what man is he that has planted a vineyard, and not been made merry with it? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man be made merry with it.
Deu 20:7  And what man is he that has betrothed a wife, and has not taken her? let him go and return to his house, lest he die in the battle, and another man take her.
Deu_20:8  And the scribes/ SeTaR H7860/ scribes / grammateus G1122 shall speak further to the people, and say, What man is he that fears and is cowardly in his heart? Let him go and return to his house, lest he make the heart of his brother fail, as his own.
Deu_20:9 And it shall be, when the officers / SeTaR H7860/ scribes / grammateus G1122 have made an end of speaking unto the people, that they shall makeH6485 (they shall number) vuPeQuDu / ופקדו / H6485) captains (SaR/שׂר H8269 ) of the armies to lead (Be HeadבראשׁH7218 ) the people.

Brenton LXX Deu 20:9  And it shall come to pass when the scribes shall have ceased speaking to the people, that they shall appoint generals of the army to be leaders of the people.

Considers a case example of an offensive action for the avenging of Israel, But I’d like to introduce it’s concept to Deuteronomy 20) before we get into that particular subject, as it will involve a much more detailed look at the structure and outflow of taxation of war.

Num_31:1  And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 31:2  Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
Num 31:3  And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the LORD of Midian.
Num 31:4  Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
Num 31:5  So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
Num 31:6  And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
