(Galatians 3:1-14) …who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth (…thy law is the truth.-Ps 119:142; …all thy commandments are truth.-Ps 119:151; And the Word was made flesh…full of grace and truth… For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ… the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.- John 1:14-18. – Truth defined by the Scriptures alone make it clear what Paul is speaking of.), before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?

This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith (faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.- Heb 11:1; Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.-Revelation 14:12) ?

Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?… (…the law is spiritual: but I am carnal (flesh), sold under sin. Romans 7:14 …the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit- Romans 8:4.)

For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them(, and all the people shall say, Amen.- Deut 27:26 – The Hebrew word for Faith is Amen / אמוּן . Paul’s words are no different than Moses’- Deut 30:19: if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. -Rom 8:13)

(Please read the note’s above carefully, and examine the scripture given in order to define the emboldened words in this portion of Galatians.)

The Galatians have given up the truth and have turned to the flesh. The spirit and the truth are linked, the link is seen consistently in Rom 7:14 & Ps 119:142,151: as the Law’s Commandments; Grace and Truth as well are linked together, as they came by Jesu(s) Christ, the Word made flesh.

Notice the connection between the truth of Psalm 119:142,151 and that which came by Jesu(s) Christ: If David’s synopsis on Truth is accurate then Grace and Truth = Favor and Law: For the New Covenant offers the Grace of God by Forgiveness from sin, transgression and iniquity towards the Law of God and the Law of God written in the heart and mind. The Galatians had therefore turned back to the flesh causing the law to work wrath in their mortal members as the old covenant law of sin and death; having forsaken Grace, Christ’s Forgiveness, they sot to be Justified or made Righteous by their own works; the equivalent would by that they wished to be payed for works, yet their works could not balance out the budget as too much debt had been incurred by sin.

The action of unforgiven law observance with out

Faith / Belief as defined by Scripture are dead works (Heb 6, 9), that is sin, differing none from pagan worship, insomuch as the workman is dead in his sin and not alive in Christ.

For as many as have sinned without law

shall also perish without law:

and as many as have sinned in the law

shall be judged by the law…

(Rom 2:12)

There is no way to escape the law’s judgment but through God’s Grace offered in Christ (John 3:18-21).

Deny yourself, and take up his cross daily, follow Christ,

die daily,

Awake to righteousness, and sin not-

Luke 9:231&Cor15:31-34.

Faith = Belief = Truth = Amen

Paul enters Faith into the discourse at 2:16, making it fully known that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, there was no difference for the law knowing Judeans / Jews by nature and sinners of the Gentiles Galatians, both need Faith in Christ to fulfill righteousness.

(Galatians 3:10-14) For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written,

Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. (Duet 27:26)

But that no man is justified (Made Righteous) by the law in the sight of God, it is evident:

for, The just shall live by faith. (Habakkuk 2:4)

And the law is not of faith:

but, The man that doeth them shall live in them (Lev 18:5) .

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written,

Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree (Deut 21:23):

That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

The Hebraic Greek definition of Faith is found in

Heb 11:1 (seen above), yet Belief is simply Faith in action.

In the KJV Bible the Greek words: pisteuō / πιστεύω is that which is most commonly translated “Faith”, while pistis / πίστις is most commonly translated “Belief / Believe”, both words are however derived from peithō / πείθω a primary verb meaning to convince, persuade or obey.

All three words above are found in the epistle of Galatians and used side by side. The Hebrew logic is well seen in this holistic understanding of Faith, Belief and Persuasion as a Hebrew word most all bible readers know: “Amen”, as can be seen in Strong’s: אמו / #H543-H529.

Amen is said to endorse a statement, “so be it” (Heb 11:1 implies), as well it is the common word used for true, truth and Belief – seen in comparing the Hebrew to the LXX:

Contextual example as sited by Paul:

Gen 15:6- “Abraham believed (#H539 / #G4100)…”, quoted by Paul in Gal 3:6 and refereed to in Rom 3:27 as a ”law of Faith”.

Duet 27:26- “Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them.

And all the people shall say, Amen(#H543).

The LXX here uses gin-omai-#G1096: generally meaning “so be it” in all tenses. This harmony was well known by the writer of Hebrews 11:3: Through faith (#G4102) we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made (#G1096) of things which do appear.

This understanding of Ginomia- #G1096 is found in the

Let there be…and there was…” statements in the Genesis 1 account found in the LXX.

And God said, Let there be (#G1096) light!

And there was (#G1096) light. (Gen 1:3)

Faith translates into action and becomes so.

In Duet 27 the people who say “Amen” are stating their Belief, Faith and Trust in the Words of God. Is it not therefore the Faithful who shall live by the “Amen-ed” law? and the unfaithful who are cursed by their negligence thereto?

The principle of being Cursed with out Faith has not changed after Christ’s New Covenant else there would be no need for men to believe in Christ’s cursed tree of blessing.

The very simple fact remains in this section of Galatians as in 1John 3:5, Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, this so that we may fulfill the righteousness of the law.

So it is that the law is not of faith, but the doer lives so by

his faith being convinced of his condemnation by the law, he therefore is, or was, a cursed sinner, Yet now by faith Christ has redeemed that sinner with the gift of God, giving him, in the flesh, the ability to serve in the newness of Spirit.

Please consider if faithful Christian shall live in the cursed things below listed?

Here are one of the many laws that are synonymous in Paul’s quotes from the Law in Lev 18 & Deut 27:

Lev 18:8 The nakedness of thy father’s wife shalt thou not uncover…

Deu 27:20 Cursed be he that lieth with his father’s wife…

And all the people shall say, Amen (so be it).

Consider that the most base and simply understood laws will be transgressed if the spoken law of God is not written in the inward parts by love and wrought in our life by faith.

It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you (new Corinthian Church), and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you. (1 Cor 5:1-2)

It is evident that the Faith of Christ is offered to sinners that they may be justified so that they should no longer live the rest of their time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God (1Peter 4:2).

By now it should be well seen that the book of Galatians is not to make void the Law, but to establish the law in Faith and under Grace. As an honorable Child listens to his Father on account of Love and Kinship, But the servant listens only on account of debt and servitude: we brethren are called to be Sons and Heirs!

The Just shall live by Faith

Habakkuk 2:4 is quoted four times in the “New Testament” scriptures Rom 1:17; Gal 2:16, 3:11-12; Heb 10:38 and has a consistent lawful message attached every time it is quoted, as should easily be seen in the statement alone, yet in Habakkuk’s situational context it is more so seen:

Why dost thou shew me iniquity, and cause me to behold grievance? for spoiling and violence are before me: and there are that raise up strife and contention. Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous (Just); therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. (Hab1:3-4) …Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. (2:4)

Coupled with Paul’s context from Lev 18:4-5, “Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am YHWH your God. Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them”, the element of precision is added, that the Just live by Faith, those who walk and do God’s laws after the spirit, they shall live in so doing and they who are unjust, who walk after the flesh are Cursed in so doing. The works of the Law with out Faith is imperfect, Faith with out the works of the Law is dead.

James witness

(James 2:18-26) Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works… Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only… For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.

Both James and Paul are teaching from Gen 15, both perspectives are True and both are even synonymous, yet Paul is speaking to those who seek justification by works in the law with out Christ and James is speaking to those who are justified by faith in Christ and how Christian Faith is to be wrought with works, for by works faith is made perfect in Christ; Paul’s like message is in Titus 3.

Know therefore that YHWH thy God,

he is God,

the faithful (Heb. Amen / LXX. Pistos) God,

which keepeth covenant

and

mercy with them that love him

and

keep his commandments

to a thousand generations;

And

repayeth them that hate him to their face,

to destroy them:

he will not be slack to him that hateth him,

he will repay him to his face.

(Deuteronomy 7:9-10)

Ex Post Facto

(Galatians 3:15-22) Brethren, I speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s covenant, yet if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

(This very simple manner of man’s law is commonly misunderstood, as it is refereed to as “ex post facto / after the fact” law. In this Context, the Curse of the law which is the repercussions of transgression, as referenced from Deut 27 and Lev 18, were added at the entering in of Israel into the Promised land, the inheritance promised to Abraham in Gen 15, which accompanied the heir which was Christ, the Seed. The law of Moses which was added due to the original transgression can not disannul after the fact of God confirming his covenant with Abraham by promise after it had been made, thus grace or favor as sited in Duet 7. Furthermore, the law of Moses was given to Israel on account of being Abraham’s seed and heir through Isaac according to the covenant of promise. Therefore, Transgression of the law of Moses can not disannul the promise to make it ineffective, nor could following the law make one an heir according to the promise, as inheritance is by descent and the Covenant is established by Grace/Favor.)

die daily,

Awake to righteousness, and sin not-

Luke 9:231&Cor15:31-34.

About Lowther

I am a servant of YHWH through his perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ who's redemption power of my soul I have Faith in. Now that I have been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the New Covenant, which is a renewal of the Covenant YHWH God has made with his people Israel now in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8). The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24). The mission the Lord has sent me to is for the European people of the world, the descendants of those who have held and spread the Bible and the faith of Christ like no other race on the earth, it is this people who are in fact the physical descendants of the 12 tribes of Israel called to be regathered by the blood of Christ, a task which as been in progress since the time of the apostles. It is thus my mission to show those people salvation through the son of God, the WORD made flesh, born of the virgin Marym, the Son of David! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church Jesu(s) Christ as to effect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 8, 2, and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with the heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
