“Abide In Him: Have Confidence, Be Not Ashamed Before Him

This message is An Exposition of the Book of 1 John.

In part 5 we will be covering from chapters 2:28-3:6, and considering what ‘abiding  in him’ means from the prior contexts, as well as how one who has been anointed by God is to view the work of Christ and His blood as it pertains to the Law of God for walking, purification, and righteous living.

An Exposition of the Book of 1 John

“Abide In Him: Have Confidence, Be Not Ashamed Before Him

Delivered on 4-8- 2021 / grego. 8-16-2021

Abide in Him: Have confidence, Be not ashamed before him

D. 1 John 2:28  / 1Jn_2:28  And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

1Jn 2:29  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
1Jn 3:1  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jn 3:3  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jn 3:5  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Prior to this point on abiding in fellowship with the Father and the Son, which is an abidance in Christ, which is an abiding in the Word and Will of God, and that this has been since our introduction from 1:1-2:1 an abiding in the Word of Life, that life which was with the Father from in the beginning, this that Eternal life we must abide in. This is one abidance, yet we see many functions of the abidance we are called to as Christians.

After the introduction of teaching the 3 fold elements of fellowship:
1. the Father and the Son are in an eternal fellowship
2. The apostles who saw the man Jesus Christ, the eternal word and Son made flesh, they are in fellowship with the father and son and offer that fellowship to us by the Word of God which is a word of Life
3. that we who are in the prior fellowship are then bound to brotherly love, this is loving neighbor as our self which is evidence of a life turned out of the darkness of sin and into the light of life in fellowship.

And so after this is confirmed John smoothly transitions his epistle into the doctrine of Sin and propitiation, the atonement of Christ’s work.

A. 1 John 2:1  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:

And so the lesson is that we are not suppose to sin willfully, meaning to sin, but since we will find our selves at time sinning we must have confidence in our advocate Jesus Christ the righteous one who never had sin, willfully or ignorantly, he is righteous, right or just and perfectly so. Remember and advocate is one who speaks for you to a judge and it is Jesus Christ who by his righteousness as an audience with the Father by his Eternal fellowship with him and by the blood of his cross that he can speak for your sin as being covered or atoned for, propitiated, that is pitied by him and the father accepts Christ’s pity for our sin and it is covered by his blood.
John saiys in this section 2:3, this knowledge of advocacy and pity’s covering leads us to keep his commandments. this is he who “keeps his word”, this is 1Jn 2:5
the love of God is perfected. By this we may know that we are in him:
And in short this is as 1Jn 2:7-8 not new commandment, but an old commandment that you had from the beginning. it is the word of God heard in scripture. It is a new commandment to you, because the Scripture and the Words of Scripture every commandment and promise is true in Christ and is true in your life, because the darkness of sin is passing away and the true light is already shining.

And this accepting of the word and commands of Scripture leads us to brotherly Love as that evidence, and away from hating brother.

the B section is
B. 1 John 2:12-13  I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one.

This is an encouragement in spiritual maturity, and statement to those who have the true light already shining. That we progress as part of a family of God called to be little children dependent on salvation for the God the Father’s name sake, raised by spiritual fathers who know the fellowship of the Father and the Son, and we are to acknowledge our selves as young men of war on our way to fatherhood, that have confidence of the overcoming of the wicked one.

and in
C. 1 John 2:18  Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time.

We have learned of the spirit of antichrist, seen in the rage of the nations and people lead by their rules as spoken of in Psalm 2 and psalm 110, which confirms to us that we have come into a time prophesied to occur in the days of John, when the revelation of Christ would be know and opposed. And it is the overcoming duty of Christian little children to be raised up by their fathers to be antichrist overcoming young men in anticipation to be fathers themselves raising up little children to overcome.
What we know is that the simplicity of the true belief of the words of Scripture is enough to drive the anti-Christ who possess the spirit of anti-Christ away from us, that it might become plain that they are not entirely in fellowship.
John taught us that we true believers able to overcome the wicked one and repel the antichrists have and unction or anointed by the Holy One, having knowledge of this entire fellowship.
And that entire unction is this:

1Jn 2:23  No one who denies the Son has the Father. For Whoever confesses the Son has the Father also.

This is the Word heard from the beginning which abides in you. If what you heard from the beginning abides in you, then you too will abide in the Son and in the Father. And this is the promise made to us by God—His eternal life.
And this is the anointing we must have and be instructed in by the Holy One to endure and overcome deception or seduction concerning the nature of this fellowship.
The doctrine of the wicked one and that of the plural antichrists is a lie we cannot abide it because it does not abide in scripture. If we are taught from God on this matter, we are taught by acceptation of the Holy Scripture as the infallible rule of our faith, and we are taught by the God breathed scriptures the truth of the Eternal Sonship, Christ the Eternal Word with the Father, Christ as the Eternal Word dictated every word of Scripture and it is life and truth, and that that life of truth was manifest in the flesh in this physical world this cosmos in the eons of time for us and for our eternal life.
Little children of faith are called to this salvation for their father in heavens name sake, Fathers of Faith are called to the Knowledge of this eternal truth to instruct the little children and young men, and the The young men are called to overcome and fight for the truth of the Father and the Son and the proclamation their Holy Word as an eternal word and truth since the begging, Holy and pure and more true than the light come into the world, so is the Word of God that abideth forever. For it was the Word of God that established the World.

Go with me to Joh_6:37-47 that I may elaborate this unction or anointing at a time when John the apostle would have been hearing and seeing and handling the word of life. and then I’d like to role all this recap into our study:

Joh_6:37  All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
Joh 6:38  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
Joh 6:39  And this is the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Joh 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Joh 6:41  The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
Joh 6:42  And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
Joh 6:43  Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
Joh 6:44  No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
Joh 6:45  It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
Joh 6:46  Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
Joh 6:47  Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
Notice what this lesson of Jesus teaches us? the Father’s will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
Joh 6:40  And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

Christ’s lesson is this the Father gave those who believe on Son to the Son, it is the will of the Father to draw men to his son, this is the unction on a believer placed on him by the predestination of God, that he will believe. The Son will raise that one up at his coming in the last day this is eternal life.
this lesson is not taught of man, as the prophets have forever said, they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
This is the lesson of fellowship and this is the lesson of how we abide in that fellowship, in that will of God, and this is that lesson the anti-Christ can not receive because they are not taught of God, the father has not given them to the son by a seal of faith in him:

and so we are now at the D section which starts with this address to us as little children:

D. 1 John 2:28  And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

The truth is this, He is coming, and regardless of if we are alive or dead in this body at his coming we will raise up to judgment, and the question is will we be ashamed that we believed and abided and had fellowship in his Eternal word taught of God or Not?

Listen to how the ABP says it in its literal Greek:

And now, sons, abide in him! That whenever he should be made manifest, we should have an open manner, and we should not be ashamed before him at his arrival.

An open manner, this is that as we live in our hearts minds and souls is who we really are, as Christ knows our hearts and minds and will reveal them at his coming.
Therefore says the Apostle:

1Jn 2:29  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

This is a call to living justly, and righteously by God’s standards as found in his Word and Commandments, for we are to:

1Jn 3:1  Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
1Jn 3:2  Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

Now listen to what this unction does if we are truly christened as Children of God as those who have been taken from the world to be taught of God that thy have been given to the Son and as evidence they have the seal of faith, belief in the eternal fellowship of the son who came down from heaven and who have the seal of faith in the manifestation of the son as the son of man seen, handled and heard by the Apostles in the flesh. Listen to what that lesson of God teaches the children of God:

1Jn 3:2-3  when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

The unction, the anointed lesson teaches confidence is that we will be like him when he raises us up in the last day.
And that gives us hope, and this hope will not wait for a future time of purification, though we truly do wait for it, that God will make us to be like Christ in his resurrected body at his coming.
But we by this hope purify our self, even as he is pure. , yet we know this is not a full purification, because we wait with hope for it.

But what do we do?
We accept Christ as righteous, we know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
This righteousness of Christ leads us to hope and purification or holiness.

And this unction, this anointed lesson continues to teach us that abiding in the Word is the Will of God and this is the Love of God perfected in us, this is abiding in his love, and we say:

1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law:

for sin is the transgression of the law.

Here is the place in which many, many Christian, those who claim the anointing of Christ, to have the unction of the lesson taught of God will especially in our modern day be ashamed at his coming.
This simple statement is meant to turn every one claiming the Fellowship of the Christian anointing back to the standards of the word of God as found in the whole total and complete Law of God in defining all sin. “transgression of the law”, is the Christian definition of  ‘Sin’ in all ages.

  • To Adam “sin is the transgression of the law”
  • To Noah sin is the transgression of the law.
  • To Abraham sin is the transgression of the law.
  • To Moses sin is the transgression of the law.
  • To David sin is the transgression of the law.
  • To every Prophet sin is the transgression of the law.
  • By Christ Jesus the Son of man sin is the transgression of the law.
  • And to every apostles sin is the transgression of the law.
  • And to us alive this day called to walk as he walked, purify our self because he is pure, and be righteous because he s righteous sin is the transgression of the law.

Memorize it, learn it, use it in every day interactions between you and this whole world that lies in wickedness which you as a child of God are called to overcome:

1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

Now hear it again New Covent and New Testament Christians:

1Jn_2:7-
I write no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning.
8  Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth.

If there is a book written to curve Christian out of the fallacies of dispensationalism , the idea that the Eternal YHWH God changes, it is John & 1 John.
If there is a book we all need to read to understand the doctrine of the Eternal Law of God as the Eternal standard of Sin it is John & 1 John.
And If there is a book we all need in claiming Christian churches which we all should read more to day to properly define Sin it is John & 1 John.

Because ever one claiming Christ and his anointing, and claiming the seal of Faith, should claim all these things in unity:

1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1Jn 3:5  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
1Jn 3:6  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.
Jesus Christ was not manifest so that you can sin more, and do so abundantly, he was manifest to take away our sins; and we believe that in him is and was no sin.
This is the reason for his coming down from heaven, manifest in flesh by the substance of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit.
But sadly the majority of Christianity has concluded contrary thorough the witness of the Holy Spirit in scripture that there is no law, and there is no sin against god by the law, and that Jesus Christ did not come to take away sin but to take away the law, whatever it may be.

But let me emphasis this lesson of John by the 10 commandments:

  • Christ Jesus did not come into this world so that we could abandon the Eternal knowledge of YHWH God
  • Christ Jesus did not come into this world so that we could abandon proper condemnations of idolatry and idealism
  • Christ Jesus did not come into this world so that we could take YHWH’s name in vain
  • Christ Jesus did not come into this world so that we could forget about and break the Holy Sabbath
  • Christ Jesus did not come into this world so that we could dishonor our parents and forsake our land
  • Christ Jesus did not come into this world so that we could kill,
  • adulterate,
  • steal,
  • witness falsely,
  • or covet

Rather: we should know by his unction and the lesson of his word:

1Jn 3:5  “Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
And he was manifested to take away our sins…”

Let us then abideth in him by sinning not: for we have seen him by this light. And we confess we are not sinners that hath not seen him, nor know him.
By this abiding in the Word do we wage our war in this world and with the world, by triumph of our Faith. Let us then therefore believe the Word of God, the Commands of God and the Law of God, and not be deceived by this seduction of the antichrist to doubt the Eternality of God which abides forever as does his word.

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
