pt.6 No Deceptions: He that doeth Righteousness is Righteous (1John 3:7-17)

No Deceptions: He that doeth Righteousness is Righteous

This message is An Exposition of the Book of 1 John.

In part 6 we will be covering from chapters 3:7-3:17, and considering where Righteousness, Justification, Justice and Judgment come from in the life of a believer, we will consider sanctification or Holy-living by this Righteousness as it is against sin and in accordance with YHWH God’s Holy and Eternal Law, we will consider how Sin is a work of the Devil and how the Devil is the spirit of Anti-Christ.

And most importantly

we will consider our Call as Children of God to Brotherly Love (the love of Neighbor in Christ) as it makes distinction between

the children of God and the Children of the devil.

An Exposition of the Book of 1 John

No Deceptions: He that doeth Righteousness is Righteous

Delivered on 4-15- 2021 / grego. 8-23-2021

No Deceptions: He that doeth Righteousness is Righteous

Section E of the Epistle of 1 John

1Jn_3:7  Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jn 3:8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

1Jn 3:9  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jn 3:10  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

1Jn 3:11  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

1Jn 3:12  Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.

1Jn 3:13  Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you.

1Jn 3:14  We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death.

1Jn 3:15  Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

1Jn 3:16  Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1Jn 3:17  But whoso hath this world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?

Last week we looked at that unction or anointing from 1Jn 2:20 that the children of God have an unction or anointing, let us remember that this is a smear or drip of oil which has flown down the Holy One’s head, down Christ our high priest’s beard and down the skirts of his garment thereof (Ps 133); and so all of our knowledge of truth and of the one true God as prior spoken of by John must be attributed to Christ, and his anointing, or his being Christ, our joy is a result of the oil of gladness poured (Heb 1-2) in that mystical way by the Father upon the Son in eternity past.

This is when the covenant of Grace and Dominion was made and accepted by the persons of the one and only YHWH the Eternal LORD God.

Also, last Sabbath we started in the doctrine of the Righteousness as starts in this same way with Christ. That is at the source of the Oil, yes, anointed by God the Father but poured out upon God the Son through the Holy Spirit, and it is our receiving of this Oil of anointing that brings us truth, even the letter of John the apostle as the a writer of the word of God:

1Jn 2:21  I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth. :

1Jn 2:29  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

And so that Unction in fact teaches us all things of ought we have to do, this is not to say we in fact know ‘everything’, but that the Spirit of God communicates the truth of the Father and the Son, as well as Faith in the word of God which teaches us more of the knowledge of God.

No man can teach faith in the Scriptures nor what they speak of concerning the essence of YHWH but the simplicity of Faith in the Word of God, it can:

‘profit our doctrine, reprove & correct our way of life, and instruct us in righteousness: 2Ti 3:16-21’ .

And so John said of this knowledge of Christ’s righteousness:

1Jn 2:28  And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

1Jn 2:29  If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.

And so what we are taught is that If you KNOW God is righteous, and if you know God’s Son Jesus Christ is Righteous, you know that every one that can do righteous or truly just things before God is born of him.

Behold, or look! this is a phrase of exclamation !

And we say

Look at this! Behold!

what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us!

That we should be called the sons of God!

This is the marvel of what we behold, that we even who would receive of his name sake as The Children of God, the Children of YHWH, Christians.

The knowledge of this marvel functions to our seeing eyes, and hearing ears, and handling hands as a call to righteousness for us, and as an anointing of discretion, that is just judgment to understand the Lord’s justice or righteousness.

We should understand:

1Jn 3:3  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

and This is why we were reminded of the definition of Sin by the apostle

we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

1Jn 3:3  And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

1Jn 3:5  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

1Jn 3:6  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

Our unction of truth, and of the truth of God, and of his infinite righteousness and holiness, leads us to our knowledge of our original unrighteousness and un-holiness, and therefore in our preparation to meet our pure, righteous and holy God we are lead in this life of flesh to conquer the flesh by our faith given by God’s Holy spirit.

And so the Apostle taught us that simple lesson all Christians and every bible believer should know: the definition of Sin

1Jn 3:4  Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.

And the Apostle taught us the definition of Grace

1Jn 3:5  And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.

And by these the Apostle taught us the judgment we are to have in consider those who claim to abideth in him

1Jn 3:6  Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him.

And so in this part E we read:

1Jn_3:7  Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.

1Jn 3:8  He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

So we here see an equation: Sin are the works of the devil, Law breaking is sin, and therefore Law breaking is a work of the devil. And if the breaking of the cords and bands of Christ of Psalm 2 be the breaking of the Law of God then we find the same spirit as the spirit of Anti-Christ as we find in the devil

1Jn_3:9  Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1Jn 3:10  In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

The “Committing” of sin is important to notice, this is not an accident or and ignorant sin, this is a willful perpetration like an act of war, committed to a cause, in this case one is ‘committed’ to the committing’ of the cause of sin. And this is the Work of the devil and these works oppose God’s good works, which is to not transgress or break God’s Law.

Christ was said to have been “manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. “ Therefore Christ did not com to aid in the works of the Devil or the anti-christ by giving one right to commit to the breaking of God’s Law but rather to heal and bind up the breach we have cause in our life in the transgression of the Law of God, that it is new in us because the darkness of sin and the devil has past and we are now children of light.

Notice the 2 greatest commandments also named here as the test of the One claiming to abide in Christ:

1Jn 3:10

1st greatest commandment: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God,

2nd greatest commandment: neither he that loveth not his brother.

And the righteousness of God by his Law through Jesus Christ brings with it the love of brother with a repulsion of hating Brother.

1Jn_3:11  For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.

Now let us discuss the division of brothers of the flesh in acknowledging the spirit and works, the fruit that is in them.

The Love of brother is not a light thing in the proof of a Christian life, it is among the highest forms of evidence that show we are in fact “abiding in him”. This Evidence of this Work can divide a truly converted child of God from a superficial mentally agreeable so called christian.

One may love the head knowledge of the bible and one may even love the way personal piety of the keeping of the first half of the table of the 10 commandments make them feel, but if they can not love brother by helping him in his times of need, just a Christ helped us “while we were yet sinners” and “ungodly” then simply it is evidence that that so called brother has not the unction of Christ, the oil of gladness of the anointing from God the Father has not run down the Son and king of righteousness’s head, down his beard, down the skits of his garment and anointed that one, that one is not a child of God, that one is not among the brethren of the Son of God.

Therefore saith the apostle:

1Jn 3:18  My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
