Revelation of the Knowledge of the Son
In our main bible study for last sabbath we looked at the aspects of our doctrine concerning God the Son, Christ the Son of God, the Son of man the mediator the man Jesus Christ.
This revelation is clearly spoken of in the Old Testament scriptures by Jesus and the New Testament writers who used them.
The Doctrine of the Revelation of the Knowledge of the Son is the cornerstone of the Christian Faith, and is in much need of affirmation in a world that does not speak of such things nearly enough.
New covenant vs. old covenant exposition
In our AM Sabbath bible study class, we also covered the explanation of 2 Corinthians 3 which involves an understanding of the New Covenants affect upon the heart by the spirit of God and how that turning of the heart looks at the law of God seen in the face of Moses the law giver of YHWH God.

Revelation of the Knowledge of the Son
Proverbs 30:2-6
2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.Heb_1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
To day I would like us to consider an elemt of doctrine that every Chrisian knows but not every Christian might understand, or have taken time to think about , and that is the revelation of the knowledge of the Son, or I could also say of God the Son and of the Son of God.
At this time in the year according to the Gregorian calendar ordained by the papal roman catholic church and accepted by most people in the world the idea in one form or another of Christmas is all around us. Now Christmas was invented by the RC church to correspond to various pagan practices to christianize them, and it was oringinally a mass, that is a bloodless sacrifice offered up by the priest on behalf and sometimes of the people in the form of the rite of the eucharist, and it is especially ascribed to a set date December 24th-25th. This has come to us as the date of Jesus birth, or the time of the incarnation, the manifestation.
But here is what I want you to consider, God did not speak a word in his book to command a commemoration celebration of the coming of Christ.
Why do you think that is?
Well in the simplicity of the answer I am going to give, it is this “the taking upon himself the likeness of sinful less to condemn sin in the flesh (Rom_8:3) is not the only thing God wants us to celebrate about Jesus Christ.
We call the Word becoming flesh the incarnation and we call it the condescension of Christ, this is a glorious event, it is the promise of the ages it is the time of the fulfilment of what the Son said to his father when he said as recorded in Psa_40:6-8 as it is recorded and quote from the Septuagint and explained in Heb 10:5-
Psa_40:5 O Lord my God, thou hast multiplied thy wonderful works, and in thy thoughts there is none who shall be likened to thee: I declared and spoke of them: they exceeded number.
Psa 40:6 Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not; but a body hast thou prepared me: whole-burnt-offering and sacrifice for sin thou didst not require.
Psa 40:7 Then I said, Behold, I come: in the volume of the book it is written concerning me,
But here is the point I want to drive in in this study, The birth of Jesus into the body spoken of here in the likeness of human sinful flesh in Romans 8:3 and John 1:14 is not the birth of the Son nor is it the birth of Christ, it is the birth of His true flesh and blood of the seed of Abraham, of the Israelite tribe of Judah of the house of David, the body worthy of being the King of Israel and of the World, yes. But it is not the birth of the Son of God it is not the birth of Christ, and we can never let it be thought of as the birth of God.
Because that is not what Jesus said
It is the birth of Jesus, the Son of man, but even in that mystical sense Jesus the son of man in His mediatorial form dwelling in the unapproachable light for us was recognized as the Son of man to come in flesh:
Joh_3:12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
Joh 3:13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
The incarnation spoken of here, the condescension of God becoming flesh, of Christ taking upon himself the form of a servant and born of a woman is a spectacular event, and that we know of its revelation is important and central to the Christian faith. But what Agar said is just as important for us to remember, and that is this which Jese speaks of in part:
4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?
and now listen to this encouragement and this warning:
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
There is a reason why the Fathers of our faith opposed the idea of Christ mass being celebrated as Jesus birthday,
1st because it added to the pure word of God that in its purity is a shield to him who trusts in Him and it
2nd because it takes away from the Word made flesh when it is made an object of Christian worship with no foundation from scripture.
Agur answered his question, what is his name?
turn to John 1:1-3:
Joh_1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.Joh 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
…
Joh 1:17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Joh 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
We have 2 answers here, Agur’s prophecy nailed it the ‘word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him’.
The revelation of the Word who was God and who was with God from the beginning should never be detracted from by our imagination of the birth of a god.
There is what I want us to consider today and think more upon.
Here is a more exploded view of John 1:14
Mat_1:18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a publick example, was minded to put her away privily.
Mat 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.
Mat 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
Mat_1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.Isa_7:14 Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Isa_9:2 The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined.
Isa 9:3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, and not increased the joy: they joy before thee according to the joy in harvest, and as men rejoice when they divide the spoil.
Isa 9:4 For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian.
Isa 9:5 For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire.Isa 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
Isa 9:7 Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Isa 9:8 The Lord sent a word into Jacob, and it hath lighted upon Israel.

Heb 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;
