Our morning AM Bible Study, In this class we are in a study of the book of Leviticus in understanding and as it applies to the Christian life, in this particular Chapter we will be discussing our churches controversial belief in celebrating Biblical holydays including Lev 16’s Day of Atonements, by a special Sabbath of fasting and prayer in reflection on Christ once and for all Atonement.
Leviticus chapters 16… the day of atonements by Sabbath, fasting and prayer.
Our Evening Message:
Exposition of Psalm 147 Exposition: “It is Good to Sing Praises unto Our God”,
In this sermon and bible study message we will be exposing the Proclamations of Praise to YHWH God as we consider the Eternal and everlasting Praise of the Father Son and Spirit once again. Looking at the various passages of scripture that reveal the Person of the Godhead, YHWH, which every reference points to by Scriptural validation of those functionary attributes.

LXX a Psalm of Aggaeus and Zacharias, that is the prophet Haggai and the prophet Zachariah the son of Berechiah both of which are inspired prophets with a book in the bible, the Psalms attributed to them together in duet perhaps is.
Psa_138:1; 146:1; 147:1; 148:1.
the first Psalm however is not a Psalm of Praise, but a Davidic like Psalm as it states: A Psalm for David, of Aggaeus and Zacharias.
Zec_1:1 In the eighth month, in the second year of the reign of Darius, the word of the Lord came to Zacharias, the son of Barachias, the son of Addo…
Hag_1:1 In the second year of Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by Haggai…
So, the Prophets are certain contemporary and this assertion while not found in our Hebrew Bible text is worth the mention and consideration, especial when we read those books.
But let us get to the Psalm itself as we Know regardless was given by the Holy Spirit:
Our Psalms of Praise use the invocation of YHWH in the Psalms, especially the Psalms of Praise and I have labored to show how we distinguish the personal functions or works, if you will of the persons of the God head which we call by the Name and title YHWH:
YHWH is the name that is unique to God, and only that which is truly God can be called by, because the Name by simple application confesses the God Who is Who was, who will be- this is an infinite eternal omnipresent God, and those terms and that name can not be applied to anything less:
And this is applied to Our Lord Christ
Rev_1:8, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
Rev_11:17 …We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.
or in the creatures
Rev 4:8 … Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come. (And I will point out that some greek texts have 3 sets of 3 or 9 αγιος / holy’s
And so very truly we see these attributes of God attributes that are also attributed to the Lord Adoni Jesus Christ I might add as well such as in Heb_13:8
This is the meaning of YHWH, the eternality and infinite almighty omnipresent nature of- God sets him apar, makes him holy as God.
This is why we must reject the idea and the conception that the Son in not God as the Arian heresy said in “There was a time when the Son was not”, because it is contradictory to Scripture as our authority, and it is non-sensical and illogical to have Christ as God in the flesh and yet not be truly God with all his attributes as stated in scripture. Scripture is the authority.
It is in this way that in every mention of the 3 mentions of YHWH that we also end up speaking of the dual nature of Christ as God and man, God manifest in the flesh presents the whole gamut of theological considerations.
So let us see what happens here in this Psalm, because in this Psalm we meet with the divine name 6 times, and functionally speaking we again can see the differentiation without division or confusion of person:
Psa_147:1 Praise ye the LORD (Father): for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
So Here we meet as we will in the last verse 20, with the HalleluYah- the praise of the Father who as we confess has begotten the Son in Eternity and who has the Spirit proceed from Him and the Son.
Psa_147:2 YHWH the Son doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Psa_147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
Psa 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Psa 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Here we see several attribute which we can identify as the functions and claims of the work of Christ the Lord.
Foremost we see that in v.2 The LORD doth build up Jerusalem: he gathered together the outcasts of Israel.
If you recall the principle taught by many Psalms and Prophets as well as by Jesus and the Apostle himself in Act in use of Psalm 16 & 110, go to Acts 2 and I’ll show this principle, that there is a prophecy that speak of David which the Apostles and Prophets know is not David the King, but the fruit of his loins according to the Flesh Jesus Christ,
Rev_5:5 … the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David (Sir_47:22), and as you would expect of a King, Christ also will in building up his Kingdom and will also build up and regather his People Israel, lets look:
Act_2:29 Men and brethren, let me freely speak unto you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulcher is with us unto this day.
Act 2:30 Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne.
Act 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.
Act 2:32 This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.
Act 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Act 2:34 For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he saith himself, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand,
Act 2:35 Until I make thy foes thy footstool.
Act 2:36 Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.
Now look at the prototype and figure of this building
2Sa_5:5 In Hebron he reigned over Judah seven years and six months: and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty and three years over all Israel and Judah.
2Sa 5:6 And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the blind and the lame, thou shalt not come in hither: thinking, David cannot come in hither.
2Sa 5:7 Nevertheless David took the strong hold of Zion: the same is the city of David.
2Sa 5:8 And David said on that day, Whosoever getteth up to the gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the lame and the blind, that are hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.
2Sa 5:9 So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from Millo and inward.
2Sa 5:10 And David went on, and grew great, and the LORD God of hosts was with him.
David and David’s true son the Greater David which the apostle in acts 15 apply to Jesus Christ’s resurrection:
Amo_9:11 /Act_15:16-17 After this I will return, and will build again the tabernacle of David, which is fallen down; and I will build again the ruins thereof, and I will set it up:
That the residue of men / Adam might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles / Nations, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
Now it is Israel upon whom God’s name is Called and the scattered out casts of Israel are by this interpretation of Amos 9:11 the Men of of the Nations in need of being gathered which happens in Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
Joh_2:19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
Joh 2:20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
Joh 2:21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
Joh 2:22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
And beside this let me show you one last mention of this glorious point:
Rev_21:2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
Rev 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.
O what a glorious Praise we sing to the Father when we sing:
Psa_147:1 Praise ye the LORD: for it is good to sing praises unto our God; for it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
as we sing as the Israel of God sing the Praises of the Son, saying:
Psa_147:2 YHWH the Son doth build up Jerusalem: he gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Psa 147:3 He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
and is this not what is said in the very next line of?
Rev_21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Psa 147:6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
and look at who Jesus says was upon Him as he did these things:
Isa_61:1 / Luk_4:18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the meek /poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
Here we have YHWH who’s come in Flesh to be broken down to be raised up again as a fortress and temple, as heavenly Jerusalem for his outcast people, whom he will heal in heart and whom He will care for their wounds, here again we have the Condescension of YHWH the God who lowers himself down to bind up the wounds of His People Israel in His resurrection.
Here we are assured that this is Christ the Son, as the attributes of Creation are given to Him
Psa 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by their names.
Psa 147:5 Great is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
Psa 147:6 The LORD lifteth up the meek: he casteth the wicked down to the ground.
Here the Word, the Logos who was God and was with God tells with words the number and names of every star.
Condescension.
as v. 5 confirms, Great is Adoni, the Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infinite.
What Lord Master has understanding is infinite?
The Lord who was anointed with Luk_4:18 The Spirit of the Lord … to preach the gospel.
In this scripture Christ tells us that while He is identified as YHWH who
builds up Jerusalem: who gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
Psa 147:3 who healeth the broken in heart, and who bindeth up their wounds.
It is this same Stare numbering and nameing YHWH Who is the Great man Adoni , the Lord of great power and of infinite understanding.
This sae Lord is aided by the Spirit upon Him who does these things by the Gospel:
as the continuation as in Isa_61:1 to preach good tidings unto the meek
Psa 147:6 The LORD lifteth up the meek:
and yet it is also this healing Lord YHWH who
“he casteth the wicked down to the ground ” And such is done by the Sword of His Mouth, and the Scriptures wherein we see every knee bowing to Christ, and the slain with heads wounded as in Psalm 110, falling before the walls of our Jerusalem, the mighty fortress who is our God.
In this praise we Praise the Son
and yet we also find the intermeddled moments of Praising the Spirit which anoints the Son as the dew of the morning, we give thanks in Singing to God the Holy Spirit and yet by the Spirit.
Psa_147:7 Sing unto YHWH with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
Similarly the Spirit is the one helping us sing spiritual songs, and He is the God mentioned along with the Father and the Son, consider:
Eph_5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Col_3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
Col 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Col 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
We continue now in the Praise of the holy Spirit as the cocreator, the giver of life tot he world:
Psa_147:7 Sing unto YHWH with thanksgiving; sing praise upon the harp unto our God:
Psa 147:8 Who covereth the heaven with clouds, who prepareth rain for the earth, who maketh grass to grow upon the mountains.
Psa 147:9 He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.
The work of the Spirit sustaining and bringing life to the heavens and earth,
Further we are told that
Psa 147:10 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man.
Psa 147:11 YHWH taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.
The Scripture that mounts up in showing that this YHWH is the Holy Spirit yet again in
Zec_4:6 … Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts.
Job_28:28 And unto man he said, Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding.
Psa_19:9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
Christ’s anointing
Isa_11:2 And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
Given to us
1Co_2:4-5;
2Co_10:4-5;
Psa_147:12 Praise the (name) YHWH, O Jerusalem; praise thy God, O Zion.
LXX Psa 147:12 Applaud, O Jerusalem, the LORD! Praise your God, O Zion!
Psa 147:13 For he hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; he hath blessed thy children within thee.
Psa 147:14 He maketh peace in thy borders, and filleth thee with the finest of the wheat.
Psa 147:15 He sendeth forth his commandment upon earth: his word (Christ) runneth very swiftly.
Psa 147:16 He giveth snow like wool: he scattereth the hoarfrost like ashes.
Psa 147:17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can stand before his cold?
Psa 147:18 He sendeth out his word, and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
Psa 147:19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
Psa 147:20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they have not known them.
Praise ye the LORD (Father).
