pt.12 A Sin Unto Death: Blasphemy of the Spirit (final message ending 1 John)

A Sin Unto Death: Blasphemy of the Spirit

This message is An Exposition of the Book of 1 John.

In part 1 we will be covering from chapters 5:14-21, As this is part of the G section of the Epistle we have been focused on, it is also part of our understanding of overcoming and victorious Faith.

In this final lessons the Apostle John emphasizes the Witness of the Holy Spirit in brining us Truth or Faith in the Father and the Son, as the True God and Eternal life and to abhor Idolatry. In John’s closing of the epistle he teaches us of what we are to desire and petition of God as we accept His will according to his Word. We will also be warned of what not to pray and of whom we should not pray for as they are dead, if they be of blasphemers of the Holy Spirit of God, who are actively committing violence against His record & witness in not believing His the record and witness of Truth concerning Eternal Life as only found in Father and the Son- the WORD of LIFE.

An Exposition of the Book of 1 John

A Sin Unto Death: Blasphemy of the Spirit

Delivered on 5-29- 2021 / grego. 10-05-2021

Ye Are of God and Have Overcome

Section G of the Epistle of 1 John

(1jn_4:4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome . And this was in reference to the anti-Christs and the spirit of anti-christ stated in the F section)

A Sin Unto Death: Blasphemy of the Spirit

(final message ending 1 John)

1Jn_5:1  Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1Jn 5:2  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3  For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Jn 5:4  For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1Jn 5:5  Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1Jn 5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1Jn 5:7  For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
1Jn 5:8  And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
1Jn 5:9  If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
1Jn 5:10  He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jn 5:11  And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jn 5:12  He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1Jn 5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
1Jn 5:14  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1Jn 5:15  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
1Jn 5:16  If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
1Jn 5:17  All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
1Jn 5:18  We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19  And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1Jn 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1Jn 5:21  Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.

Every child of God receives this witness not of men, nor of the preaching or teaching of men as you hear from my words right now, but of 5:6  the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
And the Spirit is God, therefore:

The record and witness of the Spirit is the record and witness of God, of YHWH Almighty, one can not say if they believe in the inspiration of 1 John that 5:6 does not assert the Spirit as the ONE that bears witness while 5:9 makes the point that this witness is the ONE witness of God – Elohim.

Our fellowship with the Father is strictly dependent upon the mediation and salvation of the Word who is Son Eternal to come in the flesh, and our knowledge and true understanding of the Father and the Son whi is the Word is dependent upon the Witness and record of the Spirit.

This is the difference between the idolatrous trinity and the functional trinity.

Do you know why so many professing Christian abhor the word and term trinity or tri-unity of God?

It is because they , who often have not the witness, yet some do, recognize the static nature of a tri-une god.

Ministers of the gospel sadly on this subject in our day and age are not theologically minded, they think theology and understanding the working or functions of God by a true and accurate reading of the Word of God as found in the scripture is  ‘high brow’: too educational, to academic, to stuffy and high minded, therefore to interact with the common believer they should not dwell on theology, and sadly and to the detriment of the church some enter training for ministry from this angle and think it is not important to ever study and learn from the true Spirit of God by His Word, the truth about the functions of God and the distinctive Persons of Father Son-Word and Spirit ‘s relationship one to the other; usually this mentality dwells on a misreading of 1Jn_2:20  But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.
Wherein the unction of the Holy one to know all things in more or less an endowment from God and means you don’t need to read the bible for more spiritual insight. We know by context this is wrong, however.

Therefore in our non static life on earth, empowered by a moving God who moves by his spirit John says of our witness and our record which we hold by the spirit as true:

1Jn_5:14  And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1Jn 5:15  And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

Every thing you want in this life you do need, and every thing you think you need you do not need to do the will of God, and these verses of holy Scripture are here to be read in full:

“…if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. “

God may hear us at all times, but God is said hear to especially hear us when we desire a petition him in anything that is “according to His Will”
The Lord’s prayers say “Thy will be done thy kingdom come on earth as in heaven… is that stricing connected to the witness of the record in heaven of Father, Son a Spirit and the record in the earth of Spirit , water and blood in the baptism and crucifixion of Jesus, and our imputation of that happening?

In this immediate context John has just taught us particularly of the work of the Spirit in bringing about the life and death of the Son Jesus Christ, and then as John has been he is telling us of how our witness is true if the Spirit is the Spirit hath given it to us according to the will and word of God, the record.
And now we are being given encouragement in confidence to ask according to his will, and to desire the will of God petitioning him for his will to come and to let us work with the Spirits work in the world we live in and not against it: and that petition and desire according to God’s will is going to encase all the faith, knowledge, and record of the will and word and commandments and love for God and brother John prior taught us.

Christians whimper and complain about what they don’t like, or what they want and what they do not have, or how God is not hearing their prayer.

And the truth is God is hearing your prayer-  most likely, he is ever present God, But let me ask you, and those of you who are not at present whimpering and complaining:

I. When was the last time you came to God in petition or prayer and asked God to give you a desire for His Will?

Lets put it in the past statements:
1.When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God to have a deeper joy in the fellowship of the Father and the Son?
2.When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God to have more joy in you knowledge of fellowship with the Father and the Son?
3.When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God to teach you what sin?
4.When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God in the confession of sin and to have faith that He is Faithful to forgive your sin?
5. When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God to make known his word to you that you might love him more perfectly?
6.When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God that he make his commandments and Law new to you?
7.When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God that you might apply all of your prior petitions to a more perfect love of you brother?
8. When is the Last time you desirously petitioned God for a brother who you see sinning a sin?

1Jn_5:16-17  If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.

Here is where we are now to be as children of God in our desire and petitions, if we be in fellowship we desire our brethren in the flesh to be in fellowship with us, after we have assessed and examined our own life and have come to a point of selfless desire of the will of God for our selves, now we turn our eyes and see our brother who is in need of salvation from sin, and our petition of salvation of the individual brothers of our kindred people that we interact with should be “give them life”, this is natural and Godly desire.

Paul said of Israel his kinsmen and ours, that they might be saved, and have “life from the dead”.

But what is here being said you shall not pray for? Which is a ‘Sin unto death’?

We are limited in our prayers and petitions to contradict the will of God.

That is, if a brother is a sinner who is unforgivable committing the sin of the blasphemy of the Holy Spirit’s and has in fact show them selves by their fruits and words to be an anti-christ by violence against all that John has called the witness of the Spirit, and the Work of the Spirit in the work of Eternal life and renewal, a denial of the Spirit of Truth in fact. Not a denial of a static ‘person’, which they don’t understand, which is in fact as static incomprehensible, but to deny his work in bring the witness of the Word and will of God in bringing knowledge of the New Covenant, in the knowledge of the Lord in the writing of the Law by the knowledge of Sin, its forgiveness by the life and blood of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Said
Mat 12:28  But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
Mat 12:29  Or else how can one enter into a strong man’s house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.
Mat 12:30  He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.
Mat 12:31  Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
Mat 12:32  And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
Mat 12:33  Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
Mat 12:34  O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
Mat 12:35  A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
Mat 12:36  But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
Mat 12:37  For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Here is the Sin unto death, the only unforgivable sin unto eternal death, and this is the total denial of the witness, record and truth of the Holy Spirit.

This is a violence activly comitted and never repented of, that denies what Christ can do in his Work as Co-creator with the Father and Spirit as (planter of the tree and treasure giver) and what He can forgive and teach.

One who will deny and do violence against Jesus Christ who is God manifest in the flesh justified in the Spirit seen of angels…. by removing His Justified Spirit undermine the whole of the Law and the Gospel in his violence.

This is a violent act against
The Spirit that communicated the covenant of grace before the foundations of the world,

This is a violent act against

the imputation taught by scripture and believer by the child of God, that your sin was placed upon Jesus by his suffering and  Jesus righteousness was imputed to the child of God

This is a violent act against

the birth and resurrection of the Son God come the Son of Man

They say is WORTHLESS and does not apply to me, and thereby this type can do nothing but attempt to influence you by the spirit of anti-Christ thy posses.

Therefore This is a violent act against Your Righteousness in Christ the Word, they are against your Faith in the Law and the Gospel.

As this one who you might seek to pray for and petition God for does not desire the Work of the Spirit, it is a devil to them.

We are assured and they are not, nor can they be assured that

1Jn_5:17  All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
And this corresponds back to the confession of sin

1Jn_1:9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confidence in Him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
And knowing that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. 1Jn_5:14-15

And our confession of sin before God foremost better be confident, must be according to his will- the one who prays thus has faith and knows God is faithful and just to forgive of sins, and to cleanse of from all unrighteousness.

This faithful child of God is not just a believer in sin and unrighteousness but he also knows where the fount of cleansing is, and of what confession he bears witness to as recorded on his heart by the spirit as he has the Spirit of God that witnesses thereof:

1Jn_4:2-3  that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh…
and therefore
1Jn_4:15  shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God,

showing that “God dwelleth in him, and he in God.”

And here is the united confession, and the bond of faith and the unity of the church, the called of the Spirit of truth, the Holy Spirit, the person and function of God who witnesses to your desire and petitions of God, and that he is Light and that He has the Word of Life which teaches transgressors of His Law the right way of forgivness, by a life renewed in the power of the work of Jesus Christ as a living confession and bulwark against unrighteousness.
Yet we do not preach ‘you are forgiven’ , we do not preach Jesus Loves you’ to all, for those who will not confess their sins unto God in faith knowing God is Faithfull to forgive by the blood of Jesus Christ alone with no other way, this one does not have the witness and record of the Holy Spirit, therefor they despise Truth they Love error, and if they are not chosen by God to make this united confession of sin and faith the Son of God, Jesus Christ who came from the Father in the flesh according to the scriptures this one has sined a sin unto death, a sin that will not be pardoned by any act, or confession, or prayer.

Therefore:

1Jn 5:18  We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19  And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1Jn 5:20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Listen again to what the confession, the desires and petitions of a child of God “Knows”:

1. We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not, but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

2. And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.

3. we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding,
a. that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

Simply let me here summarize by the Word of John and fill in with other Scripture in ending this Study of 1 John:

  • Because God loved us he begat us therefore we are born of him and his will
  • the one born of God has a desire and petition to do the will of God by keeping his faith, keeping the commandments, knowing the word of God by His law and not transgressing it in sin is the best defense against the wicked one ( the devil and satan) who takes men captive at his will, the will of self confidence in lust and pride, a will of self desire and self petitioning that draws men away.
  • Therefore we know we are of God having an opposition to sin and a preference towards keeping our self according to the will of God, which abides in us, the Word of God, Jesus Christ, who teaches us the Law and the Gospel of salvation, and by this same knowledge given by God we see the World and how it lay in wickedness captive to the wicked one by not keeping them selves from sin by the keeping of the commandments of YHWH God.
  • Therefore as we see the distinctions in the world in need of being overcome by the victorious faithful, the faithful who have the abiding Word of God present in the confession of the law and Gospel, we see a world that with out the Children of God, who know, absolutely that the Son of God is come, and hath given an understanding , knowing Him that is true, and they are in Him that is true, which is His Son Jesus Christ, the true God, and eternal life that that world would lie in wickedness and have no  victorious Overcomer.
  • That we as in fellowship with God through the work of the Spirit are in the ranks of the Victorious Overcomer, who is Alone able to cause the darkness to pass for true light to shine.
  • The Victor triumphs over sin and death in the flesh, in His own flesh which He chose by the will of the Father to take upon him self being God manifest in the flesh, born of a virgin, born of a woman, born under the law to redeem them who are under the Law, the Son of God your brother and kinsman redeemer in the flesh and in the spirit.
  • It is This Victorious Overcomer is the Son of God, who alone has the keys of hell and of death to redeem you by adoption to His family. As Son of Man He alone has the key of David in his royal descent as the king of Israel.
  • This is the Victor that has overcome a world we could not conquer, but He did so on our behalf.
  • He is the True God, and Eternal Life who in victory gives the key of the bottomless pit to angels with the chains of the LORD and his Christ to take captive the world under his feet accord according to Psalm 2.

This is who John has preached unto us and who the Holy Spirit Witness of His Record:
Rev_1:5  Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
Rev 1:6  And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
Rev 1:7  Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
He is
Rev 1:8  …Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, (this is YHWH) the Almighty.

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
