Part 2
Chapters 1 & 2
Having discussed 2 very important concepts, that are being applied to this situation Paul is instructing Timothy to handle to correct the Doctrine that is turned aside, gone in another direction otherwise commanded by God our Savior, and Lord Jesus Christ, our hope.
And so this Commandment and Charge, like all the commandments of God are founded in nothing more or less than that which this salutation from Paul the apostle to Timothy is founded in, and that is “Grace, mercy, and peace, from God our Father and Jesus Christ our Lord.” so it is upon this very simple Gospel truth that (1)Paul’s relationship with Timothy in faith exists, and as well it is upon these very simple Gospel truths that (2)Timothy’s relationship with his Ephesian brethren exists.
Rightly we may say that the charge of verse
1Ti_1:3-4 “that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine, Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. “
Is directly a teleportation of the same Commandments of verse 1, and as well is then concluded in the next verse where our KJV translated the same Greek word in verse 3 παρ-αγγειλης (Par- aggeil-es – G3853 ) that is to pair one to this aggelion / message, is the same Greek word in verse 3 translated in English “charge” translated Commandment in the KJV in:
1Ti_1:5 Now the end of the commandmentG3852 is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:
But let us understand this statement as one charge proceeding from the commandment of God and our savior Jesus Christ our Hope in reading it entirely and together as a charge that is to pair the hearer to the message:
1Ti_1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightest pair this message to some that they teach no other doctrine,
1Ti 1:4 Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than ministering a godly economics /G3622 which is in faith.
1Ti 1:5 Now the end (telos) of the paired-message is
1. charity out of a pure heart, 2. and of a good conscience, 3. and of faith unfeigned:
1Ti 1:6 From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;
1Ti 1:7 Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
So again the end of the message to be paired to the hearers from Paul through Timothy should result in the administration of an godly economy which is in Faith to lead to all of these Gospel attributes:
1. charity / Love out of a pure heart, 2. a good conscience, 3. faith that is not faked
Here is the tail or total weight of the Law and the Gospel , here is the taxation of the message when it pairs to the hearer in a administration of a Godly economy in Faith.
Like the man who we spoke of in a prior bible study, that voluntarily and willingly pays his lawful taxes to the sanctuary, the tax of the paired message of the Commandment of Christ Jesus by command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope will not result in shut un answerable fables, not in the endless genealogy of Question concerning such but it will result in an Economy imbedded in Faith, that is this message serves the house hold Law of God to the People of God for their straight walking and their meaningful words which is the opposite of vain jangling or vain talking.
1Ti_1:8 But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully;
And so here are some examples of what we know the Law of God’s house in Faith will part men from:
1. lawlessness
2. disobedience,
3. ungodliness
4. being sinners,
5. unholy
6. profane
7. murderers or literally thrashers (as in thrashing wheat or grain) so strikers’ or cursers or dis-honors of fathers and murderers of mothers8. for manslayers or murderers
9. For whoremongers,
10. for them that defile themselves with mankind (Homosexual behavior)
11. for menstealers
12. for liars,
13. for perjured persons,
and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.
Simply put in this concise set of lawful uses of the Law of God, we see a clear line of understanding an Economy in Faith as the Law and Gospel part sinful men from sinning against God.
And so How Does Paul Identify with this Command and this charge, this message when it was paired to him?
1Ti 1:12 …I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who hath enabled me, for that he counted me faithful, putting me into this ministry;
1Ti 1:13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
1Ti 1:14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
And so Here is the aim, and meaningful discussion of the Law and it’s application to the Gospel that all men who have been taxed by the message of Jesus Christ we say with Paul and accept this faithful or trustful and worthy saying:
1Ti 1:15-17
That Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.
Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory forever and ever.
Amen.
Here is the essence of the Law as it is connected to the Gospel, and here is the teleportation of the Command of God from the words you hear that pair to your heart, your conscience, and your faith that is not fake: This saying must be faithful to you and worthy to you, just as it was to Paul, it must be accepted as applicable to you.
1Ti_1:18 This charge / this paired message Paul says to Timothy…
I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare;
1Ti 1:19 Holding faith, and a good conscience; which some having put away concerning faith have made shipwreck…
And so here we see Paul’s application of this charge committed to Timothy for even his own holding of the Faith and good conscience 2 of the listed “end(s) of the commandment” also benefit the Loving pure heart of the warrior of this message… this is war and it takes a warriors heart, conscience and Faith to stand on the battle ship of this ocean and sail to war in this storm.
Because like these men listed in verse 20 Hymenaeus and Alexander so are the others that have swerved , theyhave turned aside unto an empty message in desiring to be teachers of the law yet not understanding what they say, nor where it applies in an economy of Faith, thus in putting away these purposes of the message of the Law and Gospel
1. Love out of a pure heart, 2. a good conscience, 3. faith not faked rather faith is made shipwreck…
Such are by the charge of Godly Economics …
…delivered unto Satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.
But will they?
To be stuck in the raging ocean of Mythos and endless generations of questions, questions that seemingly have no beginning and certainly no end is a perfect storm to render a false teacher clinging to a broken ship, which presents yet again a fine opportunity for the message to pair with the hearer and bring about repentance if that soul is able to say:
Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.
But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
1Ti 1:17 To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.ESV 1Ti_1:15-17
