Pt. 1 No Other Foundation

1Co 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Co 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
1Co 2:15 But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man.
1Co 2:16 For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ.
1Co 3:1 And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ.
1Co 3:2 I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.

1Co_3:10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
1Co_3:11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1Co_3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;
1Co 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1Co 3:14 If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.
1Co 3:15 If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
1Co 3:16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?
1Co 3:17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
1Co 3:18 Let no man deceive himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise.
1Co 3:19 For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.
1Co 3:20 And again, The Lord knoweth the thoughts of the wise, that they are vain.
1Co 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;
1Co 3:22 Whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or things to come; all are yours;
1Co 3:23 And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.

Due to our last series, where in we validated that there is none other place to God but unto Christ for the Words of Eternal life and the words of life which we the given of the father unto the son are to live by. I used our introductory text in part in establishing the very fact that Christ is our foundation, and he is our only foundation, there is none other a man can lay, and part of Who Christ is as the Word and very logic of YHWH, God the Word, the eternal Son is this recognition that we must have that All of God’s Written word that expresses the Logos of God, the reason of God is indivisible from that foundation.
The Foundation of who Christ is and how we know him according to the expression of the Holy Scripture is the monolithic foundation of all things we do as Christians, and I dare say it is the foundation of all creation, all of the world.

Part of our foundation concerning Christ is not only His Godhead but His Manhood, and the one united person, Christ, which that unique unity accomplished:

Athanasian creed, states thus:

34. Who although Christ be God and Man;
yet he is not two, but one Christ.

35. One; not by conversion of the Godhead into flesh:
but by taking of the Manhood into God.
36. One altogether; not by confusion of Substance :
but by unity of Person.

Now Consider how Christ and this Person which he is hath always been an active foundation in heavenly places.

Psa 87:1 His foundation is in the holy mountains.
Psa 87:2 The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob.

Psa 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.
Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

And also in the aspect of understanding this foundation which is Jesus Christ we must recognize the constituent parts of how Christ hath witnessed Himself to us throughout History, and while we do not confuse the person of Christ with the witness of Christ by His revelation, we must recognize that this is part of the monolithic foundation spoken of that we are to have under us in Him:

Eph_2:20; And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;

Eph 2:21 In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: Eph 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

But what of another or strange foundations that are called ‘christ’, but are rather laid of men and not rather laid by God?

Rom_15:20 Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation:

How can we recognize that the foundation of Christ is under those who are mature in the Faith, and that they are not offering another foundation laid of men that is named of Christ but not Christ?

By the “principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God.”

Heb_6:1 Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
Heb 6:2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Heb 6:3 And this will we do, if God permit.

With this application:

Heb 6:4 For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
Heb 6:5 And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
Heb 6:6 If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.

Let’s continue to see the work of the Foundation, the Rock and Faith of the Church founded on the Apostles and prophets and what power those “Principles of the Doctrine of Christ” have in the world the Lord has placed us in:

Mat_16:13 When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?
Mat 16:14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
Mat 16:15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?
Mat 16:16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Mat 16:17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
Mat 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Mat 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Mat 16:20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

The keys of hell and of death
Rev_1:17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last: (Isa_41:4, Isa_44:6)
Rev 1:18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

Rev_3:7, And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth;
Rev 3:8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it…

It is apparent that the keys of the kingdom of heaven are a plurality of Keys, and that the gates of hell are opened and shut by them, and that tis one master key, The Key of David , who is Christ in His Godhead and person as the Churches foundation that is true Key of binding and loosing, opening and shutting those who are in darkness and translating them to the kingdom of the Son and of light.
It is obvious that the Person of Christ, as has been given by the Father to Peter as an Apostle and part of the monolithic foundation and witness to the person Christ by his apostleship is the same keys committed to the church that is still involved in today.
