“pt.2 To Whom Shall We Go?”
This message will be led by a consideration from John 6:67-69 and focuses upon the united Doctrine of the Word of God as found in the person of the Son and Word. We will consider what the foundation of a Christians truth and logic is, and how a Chrisian is to logically live his life after conversion from being a servant of sin.
You will also find our Scriptural Call to Worship and Confession which correspond to the message above.

Pt. 2 To Whom Shall We Go?
Joh_6:67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
Joh 6:68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
Joh 6:69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
Last week I unpacked a few application of this text and the implication that it has in the life of a Christian and specifically a disciple.
We separated the Visible an the invisible church in this statement as Peter say “We”, and Jesus point’s out what was seemingly unknown to the others.
I showed that Judas as being identified as a devil was done in contrast to those who come to christ and were given this privilege of Grace by the Father :
Joh 6:65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
And that it was this very doctrine that turned the ‘other disciples away from Jesus” atop of the fact that Jesus would not feed them with more miraculous free food yet again.
We herd Jesus in Mat_4:4 say,
It is written (Deu_8:3);, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
We also considered other scriptures that emphasis the place of the spoken Word, the Rhema of God as the delivery package for eternal life:
as we read… “thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.”
I emphasized that this was a whole package of who Jesus was, is and always and forever eternally will be: the Word of God.
And we saw how that in the life of a disciple the truth of the logical word:
Joh 8:31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
And we saw that this Spoken or Written word of God, the Rhema then in it’s Logical word value expresses itself in Truth and our perceptions of truth and it is truth by the Word of God then that has freedom power, how?
And this is because as Jesus says in:
Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
Joh 8:35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
Joh 8:36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
We discussed how:
Some are drawn by the ideals of Christianity, the feel of Christianity, and some leave when they are plainly told it is the Father who gives a believer faith in the Son.
Some leave when they are told their concept of right and wrong are wicked and God’s Word of what is right and wrong is all that matters.
And yet there are other who can abide this teaching and hear the Word’s and be among the disciples and yet they are traitor in their hearts, devils- like Judas sons of sin and perdition, born unto this end therefore sons of sin, vessel of wrath prepared for destruction.
Validating that it is the Father who truly does the Work of Giving to the Son and it is the Power of the Holy Spirit’s person that can comfort us with the truth Christ and his Word and Law, which keeps us bound and grafted to the Son.
And so here we are today I hope standing on this foundation of disciple ship and son ship in the church of God:
I want today to express to you the utter importance of the Word of God.
And I want to unite in your heart, mind and soul this one concept in judging if you are a true disciple, and if others are a true disciple.
The 2 truth I want to unite in your heart, mind and soul is this:
1.The Lord Jesus Christ is the Word of God Eternal and He was made flesh
2.The Spoken and written Word of God as contained in the Scriptures is the very person of the Eternal Word.
These two truths are united as one doctrine concerning the nature of the Word of God and the disciple is disciplined by both as one discipline.
Logical, Written and Spoken in the life of a disciple, yea, in the Eternal life of a Disciple, and I hope to Equate it with 2 things:
a. The total nourishment of a Disciple
b. The Logical foundation of truth for the disciple
Now in both these principle there are also two parts of the Word of God as nourishment and as truth
If we remove the either the Law or the Gospel, the Eternal Word and Son or the Eternal Word and Law, we malnourish the disciple ad we embrace falsehood not truth.
We are going to discuss 3 major points of doctrine that every Christian, every believer and every true disciple must have some handle on and application of.
Christ is the Word or Logic of God, The testifiable words, the commandments and laws of God are is the Word singular as well.
Truth 1 that in the chronology of it’s statement preceded all else, in the beginning:
Joh_1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Joh 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God.
Joh 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
Joh 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
Truth 2 that is united and joined to truth one, certainly revealed at a earlier time in history, but in trusting the word of God authoritative in both statements is something that obviously happens after the beginning:
Deu_32:46 And he said unto them (Israel), Set your hearts unto all the words which I testify among you this day, which ye shall command your children to observe to do, all the words of this law.
Deu 32:47 For it is not a vain thing (Word / Logos) for you; because it is your life: and through this thing ye shall prolong your days in the land, whither ye go over Jordan to possess it.
Now in this case we have two references that use the singular masculine noun Logos, John tells us a very simple, yet complex truth, that God and His Word, His Logical meaning are one and yet distinct in saying in the beginning was the word and the word was God and was with God. And this further told to us that this is in fact what was made flesh.
And yet this verse of Law in Deuteronomy 32:46-47 as an example is likewise God’s Logos, the Logic of this Law is distinguished as Logic as the sentiments of God conveyed by words, but there is no way to separate this Logic from God and who He is and what He is. God’s Word, the words of this Law, the Logic of this Law is Jesus Christ.
One can not but deny Jesus Christ’s person when they deny the Word of God, especially his Word.
One cannot but deny the Law of God in denying the Lord Jesus Christ.
Let me show you some other scriptures:
Psa_33:4 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
Psa 119:89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
Psa 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Now there are some who foolishly try and separate the Rhama of God, that is the individual spoken or written word(s) from the Logos or logical meaning.
That is like saying the sentiment or spirit of a document or written word, made of letters is different from the individual words that teach the sentiment of the word.
It is actually illogical.
But to assure you the rhema word and the Logos word are conveying the same sentiment look at:Jer_42:4 Then Jeremiah the prophet said unto them, I have heard you; behold, I will pray unto the LORD your God according to your words (logos); and it shall come to pass, that whatsoever thing (logos) the LORD shall answer you, I will declare it unto you; I will keep nothing (not a rhema) back from you.
Jer 42:4 AndG2532 [4saidG2036 5to themG1473 1JeremiahG* 2theG3588 3prophet],G4396 I heard,G191 behold,G2400 I will prayG4336 toG4314 the LORD G2962 G3588 our GodG2316 G1473 according toG2596 G3588 your words.G3056 G1473 AndG2532 it will beG1510.8.3 theG3588 wordG3056 whichG3739 [2shall answerG611 1 the LORD],G2962 I will announceG312 to you;G1473 in no wayG3766.2 shall I hideG2928 fromG575 youG1473 a word.G4487
So the Logic of God and his meaning and sentiments are conveyed by individual written or spoken words.
And God’s Word who is Jesus Christ’s Person is Eternal, settled in the Heaven as Christ is eternal settled in th heavens
And God’s Law which is to be light to path on this earth because it is God’s Word and unseperable from Christ’s Person, it is Him it is his Logic as it is the Father’s Logic.
And it is this combines Christian revelaton that give the disciple nourishment.
We can feed on God’s Word by Faith because
Psa 119:89 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven.
Psa 119:90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth.
Psa 119:105 NUN. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Or as John 6:68 says of the Word made flesh:
thou hast the words of eternal life.
and we know
Mat_4:4 / Deu_8:3
Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
What did Psa_33:4-6 For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.
5 He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the goodness of the LORD.
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
That is by the Spirit of His Mouth:
2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Now let me lay upon you this 3rd truth and the application of the other 2 truths, that Christ our Righteousness and only salvation and only hope in eternal life is the Word of God and He made flesh
And that the Scriptures, the Law of God and written & spoken word also contains the word of God and is as eternal as He is.
What do you think that a failure of combining these truths will give you?
If you diminish Christ’s eternality and faithfulness, and His place as God, as well as with God?
or
what if you diminish from the Law of God as a lamp, which is also the Word or Logic of God?
I think the answer is that you wouldn’t have the discipline of pure and true Christianity.
Heb_4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Let me ask you,
If you knew how to use a Sword and you knew how it worked in combat, but you didn’t want to us the sword or fight the fight that needed to be fought?
Logically you know how to handle the sword and how it works, you might even know how the metal is made and tempered, the handle is formed and the quality of the steel, the angle and pitch of that thickness of blade and the optimum way to slice… but you just can’t fathom how to do what you logically know to do.
That is, you can’t put what needs done in to practice, though you are read up and studied up on the subject.
The same is the benefit of hearing God’s Word acknowledging it as truth, studying the bible, accepting what the pages say concerning the Word of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, and even knowing the doctrine of the engrafted Word as a pure gift and never applying it in life’s combat against the devil.
Psa_149:6 Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a twoedged sword in their hand;
Now look at James 1:17, and consider that everything being said here is of the Locial Word, the Logos, the force and meaning the essance of the Word, the uttered breath of God which is Spirit:
Jas_1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Jas 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word / logic of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.
Jas 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
Jas 1:20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
Jas 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness (an abundance of wickedness), and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
Jas 1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
Jas 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
Jas 1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
Jas 1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
