Our Regulative Principle of Worship

Part 4

“The Will of God Abideth For Ever”

Deu_4:1  Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Deu_4:2  Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deu 4:3  Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
Deu 4:4  But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
Deu 4:5  Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6  Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deu 4:7  For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Deu 4:8  And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
Deu 4:9  Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Deu 4:10  Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Today I am going to tie up our Study on the Regulative principle in getting ready for the next Series in relation to it, which will be on the sufficiency of Scripture also, where I intend on going through the Bible and showing some key doctrine which we should hold together in regards to why we should trust the Bible as God’s Word.
In the introductory text which I have read now for this being the 4th Sabbath, I have read a part that I have only touched on in a few sentences, and that is benefit of not deviating from the Regulative Principle in its purest form.
In a world where rules are despised, in a world where mastery is to be made abhorrent, in a world where any form of sovereignty with exception to that of the secular state seems to be abhorrent, though that state supports only its own claim to dethrone all other sovereignty, and though it does so by the will of Vain persons, that is foolish, stupid and worthless persons (biblically sons of Beliel) this the world we live in, and a shock though it may be, a world we always have lived, the difference only is the proportion of courageous persons who will fight for God’s sovereign Lordship over and above, not the states, they are not truly th enemy, by their own sovereignty. Man struggles with the idea of his own free will more than anything else, and it is the idea of free will that enslaves even those who think they are free from all law, statutes and commandment of the LORD GOD.
When man Champions his choice in his own life, he says my will is distinct from God’s Will, when he champions his way of doing things though God’s will expresses it to be done another way, man is again championing his way as better, and when man allows the restraint negative and command positive that should exist in all areas of life as worship to God for giving us life, and breath and being to choose to serve what he says is the sovereign LORD YHWH, in the way and will man the creature chooses to worship the creator man has begun to wind down the spiral of idolatry which is seeded and bloomed in Covetousness.

Go to:
Rom_1:21  Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Rom 1:22  Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
Rom 1:23  And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
Rom 1:24  Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves:
These scriptures are the prototype of the degeneration and fall of man, and the scripture which Paul uses are taken from Israel’s National history, but can be applied to all Adam’s sons and beyond.
When we do not glorify God as as God nd when we are not thankful to him for what knowledge of him he has given us – God gives us up to our own vanity which is an epitaph for idolatry, h gives us up to our own foolish heart to be become more dark, and this leads to all manner of sin and uncleanness.
It all starts with not glorifying God as God, and not being thankful to him for expressing himself to you in what every small way he has done so.
We must realize that in changing the word of God as found in the Law of Moses is to invent and bow down to our own preferences of ‘truth’, lusts or covetousness and then we call this worship to God, but in fact it is idolatry.
Turn toy:
Eze_14:3  Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
Eze 14:4  Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
Eze 14:5  That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
YHWH God is hear promising, this If your Idolatry is heart deep, and you have established actively, your imagined worship in your heart, God says you can only become more convinced of that covetous idolatry which you desire in your own self.
Notice the duopolistic thought:

Eze_14:4… “setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols…”
This is no differnt than:
Rom_1:21  …when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Often time the message I gave last week is misunderstood, and that is where verse like these help to clarify, if you remember:
I spoke of the Prophet or dreamer of dreams that produces a sign, wonder or miracle and it indeed comes to pass, and the Scripture says:

Deu_13:3  Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

And then we have this statement in
Jas_1:13  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man
.
And so the question is, ‘Does God test or prove us or not?’

The Greek word in both instances is G3985 / Peirazo / πειράζο , this is not a translational error, so what is it?
Let’s look at what James says:

Jas_1:12  Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Jas 1:13  Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
Jas 1:14  But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.

And so Between Romans 1, James 1 and Deut 13 we can fairly certainly triangulate what relationship is found in lust and temptation.
Roman 1:21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him… 23 they became fools, and they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for what they lusted after…. 25 goes on to say Rom_1:25  they Who changed the truth of God into a lie, they worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

So do you see what happens when a Prophet, professor or dreamer of dreams stand up before you and says Let us serve other gods? or let us do other god’s services?
He is saying to you:

Deu_13:5… turn away from the LORD your God, which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, let me thrust you out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in.

And because you do not believe the Commandments of the LORD, because you do not want to do the services of thy God, which are his ways, his way of walking which is in the this book of the Law for you to do and teach your children that it may be your wisdom, greatness, understanding and blessing, rather your own lust do do what you want to do draws to away in preference for that prophet or dreamer of dreams way of service, way of life and way of doing things.

And God hath sent that Prophet into your path, but because you know God you have the test in your own self, will you glorify God or serve other gods? will you trust in in the truth of the word, law and commandment of God or will you follow your own lust?

Jas_1:15  Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
And therefore with our brother James I say to you:
Jas 1:16  Do not err, my beloved brethren.
Jas 1:17  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Jas 1:18  Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Covetousness or lust against the word of truth which is the way you are commanded to walk in as one who has been given the amount of the knowledge of God you have in the bible, and the amount of truth you have in the scriptures which are the words of truth when rejected for your own lusts, your own hearts desires are not the temptations of the LORD God, he has placed his word of truth before your very eyes and has proclaimed it to be good for you, knowledge for you, understanding for you, wisdom for you, righteousness for you, justice and greatness, but one who rejects the regulation of their life as a living sacrifice by the principles of the word of God has chosen their own foolish heart in preference to the word of God.
Even if that choice is based on the persuasion of your sons, your sons father in-laws, you brothers, your father and mother, you wife or you best friend:

In Psalm 69 David says:
Psa_69:7  Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face.
Psa 69:8  I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children.
Psa 69:9  For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
and in Psalm 27 David also says
Psa_27:10  When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.
Psa 27:11  Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path…

Like all who have come before us we have a plain path in the word of God, and God has not left us that that wait on HIM, be ashamed… nor those that seek YHWH of Hosts be confounded …
Not even when we must stand on the plain paths of the word when other call us and lure us to follow their lust, which calls to our lusts to walk away from the Lord and His word of truth which he has revealed unto us.

Listen to me, it is not a light thing to reject the word of the Lord and cast it behind thee, remember Psalm 50? Those who willfully do so un repentantly and arrogantly to the Lord’s Face have no right to take the covenant of Grace up into their mouth because they hate the LORD GOD’s instructions!
And so when we read in this introductory text of
Deu_4:8  And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?

We must realize that on the larger scale, to reject God’s Word and his law as the source of our obedience to him and worship of him is also to reject wisdom, understanding, greatness, and the closeness of God to your nation, it is a rejection justice and righteousness, it is a rejection of ever having Godly Nationhood. Which stars with a people, mothers and fathers who teach sons and daughters the Covenant and Law of God, the Law of Moses and the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

This is why we read:
Deu_4:9  … take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons…
and therefore it is an embracing, a bowing and service to the god of your own self, your own soul, your own forgetfulness of God which saved you, and of your own heart. And beyond all this, as stated in the post-logue of the 2nd commandment which promises curse upon the children of those who hate the commandments of God unto 3 and 4 generations, so says 4:9 in the positive refutation of that hatred “but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons…”. Which is why it is important to realize the affects of Rejecting and not observing the Law of God for a nation. Nations are made up of sons and daughters, son’s sons and son’s sons sons to be a great nation one must have father, patriarchs that are actively teach and living out with their children the words of God, his Laws and His reasonable Service.
This is what is at stake, this is what has been at stake in abandoning God’s Word, by addition or subtraction, by neglecting God’s reasonable service by his word as he delivered it to Moses and applies today for us as our Ecclesiastical Law and worship.
And this why we read the way to do so in worship in such laws as the keeping of services which YHWH Truly commanded by His word.
Turn to Exodus 12 :24 which is speaking of all the rites and ceremonies of the Passover and feast of unleavened bread, of course we do as best we can in Worship to YHWH of this service, which is positively commanded of him, and as is the perfect nature of YHWH, we now do so in the glorious light and in the grace and the truth found in Jesus Christ who was slain for our justification on that great passover day, we know not of a shadow to come but of a truth come to pass-over us that the Lord since before the foundation foreordained that all the saints of eternity would be saved on the passover wherein Christ would justify by his blood alone the undeserving ungodly sinners such as us. This we remember with gladness now as we pass on the service and worship of Passover as it is written to our children in worship:
Speaking of all the rites of Exodus passover Moses says:

Exo_12:24 …ye shall observe this thing for an ordinance to thee and to thy sons for ever.
Exo 12:25  And it shall come to pass, when ye be come to the land which the LORD will give you, according as he hath promised, that ye shall keep this service.
Exo 12:26  And it shall come to pass, when your children shall say unto you, What mean ye by this service?
Exo 12:27  That ye shall say, It is the sacrifice of the LORD’S passover, who passed over the houses of the children of Israel in Egypt, when he smote the Egyptians, and delivered our houses. And the people bowed the head and worshipped.

For decades I’ve heard heres-ism like this in various ways, and you cannot found such an idea, which is all it is ‘an idea’, in the scriptures where even Jesus the Word says himself of Moses and his Law:

Joh_5:46  For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
Joh 5:47  But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
And in:
Luk_16:31  …. If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead. (that is to tell them repent).

So here is my encouragement for you with the apostle John from1 Jn_2:13-17
I am speaking to you little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.
I am speaking to you fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.
I am speaking to you young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one.
I am speaking to you little children, because ye have known the Father.
I am speaking to you  fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning.
I am speaking to you young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one.
Here is what I say with Moses who says:
hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.

1Jn_2:15  Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1Jn 2:16  For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
1Jn 2:17  And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.

Mat_24:35  Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

If we want to posses the Land, the Earth, you must realize that we need the word that is eternal and can never pass away in our arsenal.
We must realize little children, young men, father and the family of women folk who support us, we must cleave to his word and not the lust of our eyes and pride of the vanity of our life which we see before us which will all fade and wither as grass, and the only thing that will endure the test of the fire of the LORD in our life and of our efforts is that which we do by the will of God which is of his word, both of which abideth forever.
And this is accomplished by our Faith, that is the victory that over comes the world, that is the victory which gives us power to posses the land, and watch it fade away in light of the word of God.
But we must be a generation willing to put away our self will in the days of testing and trial, when we are proved, by ourselves over all, but by our brothers, our sons, our fathers our mothers our wives and our best friends, we must stand in faith and call them to repentance by the word of God, and be the example of a changed life touched by faith in his word.

We have greatness in all God’s services which Moses was instructed to write to us, if we would only Go to the Word of God by Faith and not unto our own hearts and our own understanding, to our own wisdom, our own knowledge, and our own truth and righteousness. Cling to the bible for the faith we are to have, and the worship we are to serve in reasonably, if you cannot justify it by the tests and trial of the word of God, let it be added to or taken away from, let it be pruned from you tree if needs be and be burned in the fire of God’s word, now while he maybe found of ye, for tomorrow who shall know if then your foolish heart God will be gracious or if he will give you up to your hearts lust to do that which is unseemly?

And so this is going to preface our next study of a further application of the regulative principle, I will be starting by laying a foundation for God Word as our authority and how the Scripture self authenticates it self, this is a general doctrinal understanding, but then we are specifically going to break our reasonable service by the regulative principle of worship into 2 parts, that of personal life service and that of collective service as a body or church.
So we will touch sort of briefly upon, our life as a godly person, but we will swiftly move that into congregational worship, family worship and such as dictated by the word of God.

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
