Pt.1 The Word: Of Faith
In focus is an exposition on Romans 10, with particular emphasis on verse 8.
You’ll notice in this focal verse all of the word for ‘believe’ is changed to ‘faith’, which by the end of this series will terminate in context…
Rom_10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt have faith in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man has faith unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
In the prior series ‘the Gospel of the Kingdom’ we had finished with victory which comes by True Faith according to the instructions given by the Embassador John. Johns’s emphasis on the element of Faith in the believers life is of such a fundamental importance to over coming the world that By the finalization of this admonition John warns against Idolatry in a contextual opposition to Biblical Faith.
Hebrew Faith
as
show by Abraham
In in any message where Faith is in focus I as a Servant of Gospel can never stop my self from bring those I am serving to mind of the meaning of Faith and t’s synonymous meanings with Trust, and Belief as well as in the Hebrew the very word Faith when we speak of the Faith of Abraham, the great father of Faith:
Gen 15:4 And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels shall be thine heir.
Gen 15:5 And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.
Gen_15:6 And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. In the Hebrew text we are told W Eh AMN- והאמן , the prefix of ‘W Eh’ is understood by those who consider the name of YHWH (Y-Eh-WEh) as He That Is, thus in this action of Belief or Faith Abraham is demonstrated and re called through out the Apostolic Epistles to the Gentiles in confirmation of Abraham’s Faith being Real, it wasn’t pseudo-Spiritual it was Alive Abraham be lived his belief he didn’t just think he had it!
As pointed out the Hebrew word Amen is the word here translated ‘believed’, and else where in the Hebrew Scriptures it is transliterated Amen, it is as well translated Trust, and Faith. Thus when we consider the Words of John or Paul or any Apostle as an Embassador of the Kingdom they are not admonishing us to have fuzzy Faith in our belly, warm glowing belief in our heart, unmovable trust in our mind, they are speaking on behalf of a literal Kingdom of God, present in the physical world, Governed by a Spiritual Law to be enforced upon the Flesh of our mortal bodies, to bring it into subjection to the image of Christ. This is the purpose, this is the end for which Faith is sent into our heart, mind and souls! Faith is the victory but we don’t believe it!
Literal Texts from Original Manuscripts of Hebrew and Greek
I’m going to take some time in describing why I’ve arranged this message as I have, I shall be reading from the KJV, as I generally do, yet before ever getting into the system of study I wish to show concerning the word of Faith, the context of any biblical study is foundational and paramount to any verse needing ot be believed, in other words no definition of language or any other opposing force trumps linear context, that is studying the word and tracing it’s line of thought as far back as the scriptural testimony may permit to understand it’s meaning, but beside that keeping the Scripture from the Law to Revelation as true, no new revelation, definition of a word or composite dogma of multiple verses in isolation can trump very simple and direct commands: a thou shalt or a thou shalt not is more powerful than 100 verses tied together, this is not acknowledging the Word of Faith, when attempts are made to abrogate the Law of God which is the First Revelation of God in Testimony.
The King James Version is the text by which I encourage people to read from as their standard Bible, I do not do this because I feel that it is more Holy or divinely inspired translation due to who translated it or when or where, but because the KJV is a literal translation, this means that the men who translated it tried to match the English to the Hebrew or the Greek, word for word, from which they used as their source text, unlike many other so called bibles, which are infact paraphrases or simplifications of the KJV or another translation; the KJV is literal in it’s intent and as thus it is capable of being referenced back to the Hebrew old testament and the Greek recieved text of the New testament.
However, as I cite often times from the Greek Septuagint, also called the LXX (which are the Roman numerals L -50 and X- 10, X -10 referencing the Levites in Alexandria Egypt who translated it from the Original Hebrew to the Greek), to better understand the scriptures by a double ancient witness, as well as to reference the Apostolic writings also called the New Testament (Mathew-Revalations) which is as well written in Greek, thus allowing us to reference the Bible mostly quoted by the Apostles and Christ himself, we then can do this for context and compare of the Greek usage of understanding from the Law and Prophets which was being taught to an obvious Greek speaking audience.
The
WORD IS NOT WRITTEN IN IT’S ORIGIN
The WORD of YHWH was literally spoken,
it is Inspired, Breathed!
Here is why I am bringing up the line of study which I personally use: Because the Faith with we must first have is in the Word of YHWH God, in Context and by systematic means. Our Faith first starts, not from the written word of God but from the spoken Word of YHWH God, and it is the Spirit which preserved the spoken word in the Testaments of Scripture:
Consider these 2 examples of Christ’s Trust as well as His source
Mat_4:4… It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
As well:
Mat_22:31 … have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
Consider the statement, Christ is asking the audience ” have ye not read that which was spoken”
Our Word of Faith is not limited to the Testaments in writing, it is in the very Fact that the Scriptures are God’s literal word, that is inspired, as the literal translation of inspired implies the physical breath used in speaking which constitutes a voice.
The WORD of God is Living,
Thus our Faith must be Living!
It is to this Faith First in the Spoken word, the literal Word of Faith breathed from YHWH God, we except it’s revelation as preserved in the Hebrew and Greek text. Yet to this Faith we study to show our selves approved, not appeal to spiritual inspiration of our own minds fist but to the God inspired Scriptures which we apply a line of Study to test every creed, doctrine, dogma, and spirit which is found or finds us. Again the validity of the Canon is proven in fact in it’s ancient and preserved forms, witnessed to by the holistic nature of the Canon of Hebrew and Greek, it is our Rock to build on in Faith to stand in opposition to the Rain and winds which work to not undermine the word of YHWH God, but against our Faith in the work we build upon it. Thus when I offer a Sabbath Bible Study, at home to my family first, to those I meet on the street, to a gathering abroad or as this message goes out on the world wide internet, I try my very best to offer studied opinions derived from Natural witness which all me use to view the world around them, yet texted to and fortified by the Scriptures.
When I speak of the Scriptures I am both citing the totality of Scripture and The Exclusiveness of Scripture, and in this God ordained order as He Gave it, thus by the Power of it’s claim, and by the directive of it’s Nature, the Scripture is wholly true and infallible, but in order to understand and apply the knowledge and power of it we must accept it in a systematic order upon the Natural witness: The Law (Genesis-Deuteronomy- Pentateuch), Histories (Joshua- Esther), Wisdom (Job-Song of Solomon), the Prophets (Isaiah -Malachi), I would as well include in the Histories the part of the Septuagint called Apocrypha or the Deutero-Canon; upon and After this Testimony or Testament of Almighty God, seats the Coming of Christ which we call: The Gospel (John, Mathew, Mark, Luke), immediately followed by the so called Apostolic period, that of the first eye witnessed to the Life, death and Resurrection of Jesu Christ according to the Word of God, the Acts of the Apostles, and then within this period of Acts and immediately following it’s silence is the Epistles or letters of the Apostles, the correspondence of the Embassadors of the Kingdom to it’s Citizens according to the prior Word of God, of course we end with Revelation of the Apocalypse, which is the recorded testimony of prophecy given to an Embassador of the Kingdom, written in a letter or epistle to the Citizens of times yet to come.
Thus, in this order I preform in depth bible study to prove a matter, particularly from the New Testament, as the apostle’s of the kingdom cite and quote from the Scriptures commonly called old testament (the Law to the Apocrypha), using the comparable Greek manuscripts from the Septuagint, it then I compare that to the Hebrew and perhaps if questions arise I will reference the thoughts of the Vulgate Latin translators and so on, All of this is then dissected by the meanings of words by comparison of regular words and phrases to construct the meaning, NOT solely by an uninspired Concordance, thus a list of the word and root words and compound words are researched throughout the texts of the Hebrew and Greek scriptures before I ever say I believe this! This is done because it truly matters to be that when I speak to whoever is listening it is able to be seen why, how, from where my Faith has come.
Being ready for an Answer for our Hope
That according to:
1Pe_3:15 … be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear, this In hopes to aswell fulfill :
2Ti 2:25, that: In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
2Ti 2:26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Thus if my hope, which I offer does not come from the Word of God and is provable by the holistic record and witness of the scripture, by a firm foundation which resided in the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit as well as proving that it is such by provable testimony which do not stand alone to show it to be from those Divine witnesses my witness is not true. Thus to offer the hope bound in the foundation of Faith, as a substance of things hoped for, I must for you who hear me provide substance and evidence for things not seen which can only come from the record and witness of the Word of God.
In this explanation of why this study has been constructed in like fashion, I also hope to lay a bases for the trust we are to have in the Word it self.
