Kingdom
Part 7
Faith is the Victory
…
Believe the Gospel!
Isa_52:7 from the Tyndale translation of the Mathew’s bible, compiled by John Rogers in the 1530’s after Tydales martyrdom to open this final message:
Isa 52:7 O how beautiful are the feet of the Embassador, that bringeth the message from the mountain, and proclaimeth peace: That bringeth the good tidings, and preacheth health, and sayeth unto Sion: Thy God is the king.
The message from the mountains and the good tidings are by translation the Gospel, the good news which in every way speaks to Zion, Thy God reigns as king! This is the very message which should be infused in any message called ‘the Gospel’
In the prior message it was finished with, what I hope was a realization of the impact of the New or Renewed Covenant, what is also called in the English bible’ the new testament’ , yet these two terms are identical and of the same meaning in the Greek.
The New or Renewed Covenant as recorded in Jer_31:31-36, is as well spoken of by every major Prophet, as seen in proclamation of it’s fulfillment in the blood of Christ according to Mat_26:28, Heb_8:8-13 in its explanation offers no ulterior interpretations or scope of focus: This New Covenant is a covenant made with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, this fact shows that the Gentiles of focus throughout the Apostolic Scriptures were in fact of these two houses, an unified house of Israel in Christ, called Christians, a Kingdom of priests or the Royal priesthood and Holy Nation as read in the prior message; as well this New Covenant with Israel was to the affect of placing YHWH God’s Torah Law in the Heart and mind of this People, that according to the merits of Exo_19:5-6, this New Covenant would enact the same Law written upon stone now written on the hearts and mind, in order to accomplish this aspect of causing YHWH to be Israel’s God and Israel to be YHWH’s People, a relationship which causes all individual recipients of this covenant to know YHWH for His mercy will forgiveness unrighteousness, sin and iniquity which YHWH Covenants that he will remember no more…if an Israelite is truly party to the contract.
This aspect of the Gospel message takes the stone tablets of God’s law and writers them upon the heart and mind of the Great Nation of Abraham, that we may become lively stones to build up to a Kingdom of God. The point which was being made in the prior part was that YHWH never intended Israel to follow the Law written on stone, rather He always desired them to desire Him.
In our primary text of The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel. Mar_1:15
We shall conclude on this final statement
Believe the Gospel!
In the second message of this series it was spoken of How the word Gospel was a Saxon word, similar to German and in the Greek it literally meant “the good message” (eu-anggelion), this as well was preached by John the baptist as the good-placement, in reference to a road way system, that is a leveling and straightening of the base to prepare or make ready the Way…The Way was shown from Exo_23:20-23, to be the obedience indeed to the Word of God, a personality of Perfection seen in the life of the man Jesu the Christ, the Word made flesh, the king to whom every knee shall bow and every tough shall confess is Lord to the Glory of the Father…Amen
It is by the new Covenant this kingdom of Christ grows within us, the manifestation of the merits of the New Covenant is Christ the King’s life in us, we call this Sanctification or ‘the holy life’ I life set to mimic the Perfection of the Life of Christ by Obedience indeed to the Father’s Word as seen in the written testament of God’s Law which we call ‘the Law’, the personification of the Father’s cognition, we are to transform ourselves to to resemble the perfect Christ and thus be a kingdom of priests and a holy or Sanctified Nation.
1Jn 3:2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
1Jn 3:3 And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.
1Jn 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.
1Jn 3:5 And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.
The Faith which we exibit in the Word made flesh, is seen in our flesh, that is our life by the measure of purification according to the written Word we are willing to purify our hear and mind with.
As mentioned prior: In the Greek scriptures the English words Belief, Faith and Trust are all translated from a single Greek root ‘Pist’ or ‘Peith’ (pistis/ peithous), they are relative words seen in the Hebrew Scriptures as a word we easily will recognize ‘Amen’, So be it, or literally ‘Truth’, the word simply means ‘Truth’. The definition we are biblically give for Faith is:
Heb 11:1 Now faith or belief (πιστιςG4102) is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Thus, in our primary text, we are told: the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe (pisteu-ete / πιστευ-ετεG4100) the gospel.
Pisteu indicates the having of Faith, while Pistis indicate the element of having Faith it self (Belief vrs. Believe); And it is by Repentance this Truth or Faith is shown towards the Gospel. In other words, we do not say Amen with out mouth, we live Amen by our actions, we repent which is ‘the substance’, the kingdom is thing hoped for and ‘the Gospel’ is the evidence of what is not seen.
If we belief or have faith or trust that the Kingdom is at hand we will repent and truly believe the Gospel. Repentance= a heart and mind changed towards the Law of God as seen in the New Covenant.
The Gospel
The New Covenant or God’s Personality in our Heart and Mind has been the Gospel of the Kingdom, essentially since Eden, easily seen in Exodus 19, yet proclaimed plainly by David and the writer of Hebrews.
In the Greek scriptures of the LXX, although it has always been a kingdom message as may be seen in 1Sa_31:9; 2Sa_1:20; 2Sa_4:10; 2Sa_18:19,2Sa_20,26,31; 1Ki_1:42; 1Ch_10:9; 1Ch_16:23 …Every verse here shows a Kingdom message being conveyed.
Brenton LXX:
1Sa 31:8 And it came to pass on the morrow that the Philistines come to strip the dead, and they find Saul and his three sons fallen on the mountains of Gilboa.
1Sa 31:9 And they turned him, and stripped off his armour, and sent it into the land of the Philistines, sending round glad tidings ( eu-anggelizo / ευαγγελιζομενοιG2097 ) to their idols and to the people.
If it is that the word Gospel still carries a preconceived meaning, that is that all good tidings or good news is YHWH God’s News, this and the prior verses prove to the contrary.
Rather, Just as in this very first mention of the word Eu-anggel here in 1Sa_31:9, the good news was of King Saul the anointed king of Israel’s death, that is the defeat of Israel was to the philistines the Gospel of their kingdom of Idolatry and people. This is the very the same word translated Gospel in our New Testament Scriptures when we preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of Christ; every Greek reader of the Septuagint Hebrew scriptures would have recognized this word as Kingdom message, in the case of YHWH as Covenant God, the promissory God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Gospel of His Kingdom is the victory of He and His people over the world, the world as a gigantic a terrible Image, and Idol which rules the world of (remember Daniel ch.2) The Idol was terrible! so massive it’s visage frightened the very king of the earth. Yet this stone, this simple piece of a mountain rock hewed by only the desires of YHWH God set his Stone as a Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offense to the might and majesty of the world of Men! And were is this victory found in the Stone to be a mountain? A Mountain to be a Kingdom?
John’s Recorded of God’s Witness
1Jn_5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1Jn 5:2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
1Jn 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
1Jn 5:5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
1Jn 5:6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
1Jn 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
1Jn 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
1Jn 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
1Jn 5:10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
1Jn 5:11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
1Jn 5:12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
1Jn 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
1Jn 5:14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
1Jn 5:15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
1Jn 5:16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
1Jn 5:17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
1Jn 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
1Jn 5:19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
1Jn 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
1Jn 5:21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
Bringing us yet again back to the inerrantcy of the Word of God, the whole record or testimony of the Father YHWH God, Communicated by the Holy Spirit of Truth to His prophets and Apostles, revealed in the perfection of The Son, the Word made flesh…It is faith in our Heart of this Witness which will OVERCOME THE idols of this WORLD, and it’s people with them!
All of this found in the promises found in the New Covenant made with the Gentiles of the house of Israel and Judah, a people of the Nations of Abraham who Desire to be His People, by excepting The Word into there Heart by Faith! To set our feet on a sure foundation a Rock destine to Grow by Grace.
In our opening verse of Isa_52:7 preaching of Righteousness and Justification by forgiveness of Sin through the blood of Christ and the placing of YHWH’s Law upon the heart of Christ’s followers stood upon the mountains perceivable as they watched the Idol begin to crack! when the the stone cut with out hands started it’s grind.
Faith in the New Covenant as Gospel?
David saw this in his Day the writer of Hebrews published it’s Gospel proclamation…
Consider:
Psa_40:1 I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
Psa 40:2 He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. Exo_33:22
Psa_40:3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
Psa 40:4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
Psa 40:5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
Psa_40:6 Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required.
Psa_40:7 Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,
Psa 40:8 I delight to do thy will, O my God:
Now turn in your bible to Heb_10:9, at this very point you will see a fact of extraordinary significance, right after this quote from David says…
He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Heb 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Heb 10:11 And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering oftentimes the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins:
Heb 10:12 But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;
Heb 10:13 From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool.
Heb 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.
Heb 10:15 Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before,
Heb 10:16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them;
Both David an Hebrew’s author are preaching the same Gospel, the Gospel of the NEW COVENANT, the law written within our heart.
Notice what David preaches next:
Psa_40:9 I have preached (announced Eu-aggelize) righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.
Psa 40:10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.
God’s Law written upon the heart and preformed in the life of a true believe is the Gospel in action, it is proof to the fact that you are made party to YHWH God’s New Covenant. That is that the heart of Stone, that adamant Stone has not only received the Word of God in the belief that Jesus Christ came in the flesh, but that this message has sanctified your life by the washing of the water by the Word…you now believe that Pro_30:5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Our Christ quoted from the Law in Deu_8:3 found in Mat_4:4 when the tempter came to him, and said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. Christ answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. This is the hunger and thirst for righteousness, found in the New Covenant, a food which feeds our souls, that is of combined heart and mind!
New Covenant Faith in the ‘Old Testament’ Law?
Deu_11:18 Therefore shall ye lay up these my words in your heart and in your soul, and bind them for a sign upon your hand, that they may be as frontlets between your eyes.
(LXX-Deu 11:18 And ye shall store these words in your heart and in your soul, and ye shall affix them as a sign on your hand, and it shall be fixed (or unshaken) before your eyes. )
Deu 11:19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
Deu 11:20 And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thine house, and upon thy gates:
Deu 11:21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
Deu 11:22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
Deu 11:23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
Deu 11:24 Every place whereon the soles of your feet shall tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the uttermost sea shall your coast be.
Deu 11:25 There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
Deu_11:21 That your days may be multiplied, and the days of your children, in the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers to give them, as the days of heaven upon the earth.
Deu_11:22 For if ye shall diligently keep all these commandments which I command you, to do them, to love the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, and to cleave unto him;
Deu 11:23 Then will the LORD drive out all these nations from before you, and ye shall possess greater nations and mightier than yourselves.
Days of Heaven upon Earth,
Days of the Kingdom upon Earth!
Mat_6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Mat 6:10 Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.
Mat 6:11 Give us this day our daily bread.
Mat 6:12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
Mat 6:13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.
Amen.
This is the Message of the Gospel, it’s a simple one if we as His people Just have Faith that every Word of YHWH is True, Yet if that Belief, Trust and Faith id not had it will be our stone of stumbling our rock of offense.
