In connection to the series that I had offered “why do we keep the feasts?”, this next series is offered, to help further support and encourage the Israel of God in her return to YHWH’s ordained worship according to the Scriptures.
I’d like to add that last year around this time I had offered as series on

THE LORD’S SUPPER
Christian Pascha
Sacrament of the Faith of Jesus Christ

As well as, just a few months back, I had more so established a systematic reason for keeping the feast as Christians under the New Covenant in the series:

“Why Do we Keep the Feasts?”.

How Do We Keep the Feasts?
Part. 7

By Setting our Hearts to Seek

2Pe_1:2-8 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesu(s) our Lord, According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, for they make neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesu(s) Christ.

Still looking at the template of Lev_23:5-6
In the fourteenth day of the first month between the evenings is the YHWH’S Passover.
And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of unleavened bread unto the YHWH: seven days ye must eat unleavened bread.
While we have fully covered the Passover’s 14th day of the 1st renewed month, this particular message we are going to focus what I call ‘the second Passover’ and it’s relationship to purification and sanctification.
Some people who have kept the feast in a form or another their whole life, and who have read the bible through often do not even know that such a occasion exists, and it is important for us to consider it’s meditation as well as for me to share this truth of Scripture with those who did not or cannot keep the Passover in their respective month of Abib. There is a prevision provided in YHWH’s festival Law which he want you to know about, to leaves you with out an excuse.
Turn or listen to
Num_9:1-14 And the LORD spake unto Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt, saying,
Num 9:2 Let the children of Israel also keep the passover at his appointed season.
Num 9:3 In the fourteenth day of this month, at even, ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.
Num 9:4 And Moses spake unto the children of Israel, that they should keep the passover.
Num 9:5 And they kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the first month at even in the wilderness of Sinai: according to all that the LORD commanded Moses, so did the children of Israel.

The first thing that I wish to mention is the timing which stands as an objection to those who say that Passover must be kept in the Land of Israel or in Jerusalem or at the temple, this is just a mention to help give you an answer for those who would deter you from keeping the feast by the commandment through faith.
Notice that:
Israel is in the wilderness of Sinai, in the first month of the second year after they were come out of the land of Egypt…
This is a thing to notice because Israel keeps the Passover even in the wilderness, not in Israel, not in Jerusalem. And so do we.

beyond this: YHWH says ye shall keep it in his appointed season: according to all the rites of it, and according to all the ceremonies thereof, shall ye keep it.

All of what we had read from Exodus 12-13 was the rites and ceremonies thereof.

Here is where the institution is first seen, in Num_9:6
And there were certain men, who were defiled by the dead body of a man, that they could not keep the passover on that day: and they came before Moses and before Aaron on that day:
Num 9:7 And those men said unto him, We are defiled by the dead body of a man: wherefore are we kept back, that we may not offer an offering of the LORD in his appointed season among the children of Israel?

Has this been added to the eternal Law? No, by now it should be fully disclosed that the Law is revealed to us of it’s constant nature, and this is again a constative point which always was but was now to be revealed to Israel.
That is that these men were unclean by the longest and most defiling of uncleanesses that of being ‘defiled by the dead body of a man’. the recipients of the various and sundry plagues of European history would have done well to have had the bible in their native tough to read the laws concerning this form of uncleaness. Because there are more than just spiritual concerns regarding this defilement, as perhaps has been revealed to us now in our scientific and medical modern context, but it was always there as a constative point of fact, that biological mater is unclean as told by the holy spirit of truth.

And so these men reason that they cannot celebrate the passover at its appointed season with the congregation, and look at what state they are in. They come to Moses distressed to not worship YHWH the deliverer with his people! Oh, how the heart of these defiled and unclean men in the flesh would be given to my brother’s who are clean to have this same spirit of desire to worship in the beauty of holiness!
But what to do Moses? Are we kept back? is there a provision for us?

And Moses said unto them, Standstill, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you. Num 9:8
Num 9:9 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
Num 9:10 Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If any man of you or of your posterity shall be unclean by reason of a dead body, or be in a journey afar off, yet he shall keep the passover unto the LORD.
Num 9:11 The fourteenth day of the second month at even they shall keep it, and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs.
Num 9:12 They shall leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: according to all the ordinances of the passover they shall keep it.

Consider how much YHWH loves the Passover celebration and the feast of unleavened bread?
He does not say, ‘just forget it and wait till next year’, but he says do it on the same lunar day, The fourteenth day but on the second month between the evenings , keep it and eat it with unleavened bread and bitter herbs, leave none of it unto the morning, nor break any bone of it: keep the Passover according to all the ordinances.

YHWH extends this even beyond the defilement of burial but to any in a journey who is of your posterity, those who can’t make it. And this law has even judiciously extended unto the whole kingdom in 2Ch_30:2-15 .
2Ch 30:2 For the king had taken counsel, and his princes, and all the congregation in Jerusalem, to keep the passover in the second month.
2Ch 30:3 For they could not keep it at that time, because the priests had not sanctified themselves sufficiently, neither had the people gathered themselves together to Jerusalem.

This happening is on account of the people as a whole who had forgotten the Law of God just like today, so much that concerning the Paschal meal “they had not done it so long as was written.”, and the sad reality is that like our brothers of the modern day, are not unlike those the King Hezekiah’s day, of the 10 tribes which he had invited, they laughed his post men to scorn.
What do you think the laughter and scorn was about?
I am fairly confident that the mockery was at least in part because of the comfortable high place worship was so much more convenient, ‘Judah, why do you guys think we need to worship according to what the bible really says? Do you really think we need to repent and do what the law says…”as it is written?, that’s the letter of the law Hezikiah we have abandoned the line of David, we have abandoned the Levites, we have abandoned that OLD Testament Law! Our Elders and princes need not go down to worship with all Israel and appointing judges and officers in the gates we are happy with the church and state we have now, and beside Passover has always been such a burden, I don’t like how the blood looks on my door post any way, and unleavened bread is never as good for sandwiches. Now that Jeroboam has come and brought us a better Covenant with YHWH the golden calf, and had abolished the Levites and the literal reading of the law, we can now worship before this calf in spirit and in truth, not by that old letter… Don’t you know Hezekiah, the letter kills but the spirit of the golden calf bringeth life more abundantly. “
Sound about right?
There is nothing new under the sun, the priests of the lowest of the people were in Israel and they are here in Israel’s lands today.
Many people do not even realize that in 2Ch_30:2-15 that the invitation was being specifically sent to the princes and elders to come to Jerusalem, and to anyone who needed a place to worship YHWH, but it was the princes, who were to appear to give of the tithe of the people to the sanctuary at the 3 appointed seasons and join with the other tribes in worship at the tabernacle at the temple, the feasts are the arteries of the biblical government, the 3 times in a year to appear before YHWH was the scheduled congressional sessions of the Heads of Israel to ordain Judges and officers in corroboration with the Priests and discuss matters among themselves concerning just judgment within their respective tribal gates. See this feast thing is so much bigger than just the way we keep the holy days, or the rites of a particular ceremony, but it’s total impact is how it is a cultural kingdom building unifier.

Today the laughter would be no different except it would be louder as the non-biblical sacraments are still so much more convenient, regardless of if you can’t find a shred of evidence in the scripture to justify your idol worship you may just rest in Jesus and laugh at us poor feast keepers who try to do what God’s word really says.

Even in the second month this mercy of love is poured out upon heathen Israel to worship YHWH aright, sadly this shows that heathen Israel was happily dead in their own trespasses, paganized apostate Israel was happy to not resemble the people of God in their worship and they did not have the impartation of Grace to bring them to faith to look in the mirror which the post men had brought with the decree of the Law but though the scripture said it, their hard heart and stiff neck wouldn’t have it.

Num_9:13 But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
Num 9:14 And if a stranger shall sojourn among you, and will keep the passover unto the LORD; according to the ordinance of the passover, and according to the manner thereof, so shall he do: ye shall have one ordinance, both for the stranger, and for him that was born in the land.

YHWH left all of the rites and ceremonies in tact, yet he adds this warning and admonition, “the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the passover, even the same soul shall be cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season.”

Now why did I use this text as the basis of this message for HDWKF 7?
Because there is no excuse for you to forbear if you are able to keep the feast you should keep the feast, even if your barley had come up and you just got the letter from me your modern day post man of YHWH’s mail. Keep it in it’s 2nd month.
And for us who know this law, we get the chance to consider the awesome love of YHWH and of the desire where with He desires us to keep the feast and the desire Christ desires to eat the Passover with us, with all the rites and ceremonies thereof.

Making mention to this second Passover is important in how we keep the feasts because it not only shows us that even for the dead who hadn’t woke up in time, there is yet another date according to the same Sabbath system the first is set upon, according to the lights of heaven which every month keeps it’s witness renewed for us, a reminder that even if we have forgotten YHWH, YHWH has not forgotten us, and he even bears with patience our journey away from him and His ways and the defilement of death upon us that keeps us back.
To the blind and foolish heard darkened to the light of YHWH’s Law they read Numbers 9 and say:

‘look at how harsh and binding the Law is, that even if you are in a journey God demands for you to keep the Passover!’, and from my perspective,

‘I say look at how merciful YHWH is and desirous He Is to meet with us and commune with us that not only is he willing to provide a second date to be with us, but even when we try our best he is and always has been The good LORD pardons every one that prepareth his heart to seek YHWH the God of his fathers, though even we be not purified perfectly in the sight of God or even by the accord of the sanctuary. YHWH will heal his people. That prepareth his heart to seek Him…’

And the children of Israel would just present themselves to the heavenly Jerusalem and keep the feast of unleavened bread seven days with great gladness! 2Ch_30:18-21.

Now I am not at all trying with these words of encouragement to lessen the requirement of purification for eating the Passover meal, it is my opinion that the heads of families and the males under them should be fully sanctified and cleansed to handle the lamb for their houses as in any time of Holy worship to the best of their ability. This places the entire responsibility of cooking and preparing and serving the Paschal meal upon the men. This is not to say our ladies who are clean according to scripture cannot help, but that this onus bears upon the men to lead in this meal, and to handle the lamb and bread, to serve it, this is the standard we keep in our fellowship. But on account of this reason, it is only defilement of the dead and that the scripture teach that one is unclean for 7 days after he had touched the dead body of a man, on account of any animal or other common uncleanness it is only until the next evening has passed and that as well for the males in the congregation we hold that they to eat the Passover should wash on the 14th day to eat after evening of the Paschal meal.

For me my Passover purification is a reminder of my Covenant Baptism, and it can be such even if one had not done so yet. For the Children every year I use this day particularly to explain the importance of Baptism into Christ in the putting off of the body of sin. This purification time is a literal symbolism that is carried in to Christian Baptism in the putting off of the filth of the flesh when it is fortified by the answering of a good consciences toward God, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. 1Pe_3:21
Sure there are natural uncleanness that we can never avoid to be rid of and things which the Law logically tells us are unclean that men and women cannot avoid in life.
And the lesson of sanctification and baptism is among the greatest reminder of our vial state before a holy and pure God. The entirety of its meditation recalls to me how God in Christ reconciling the world to himself in the willing condescension of himself to put on sinful flesh and sit with unholy and defiled sinners and to be our savior regardless of our inability and say ‘with desire I desire to eat this Passover with you…’ All of this mirror like symbolism packs into these purified times of worship just by looking the law of God through the light of the feasts.
I will confess that to those who feel this is too rigorous it is you who are missing out, and it is your children who will not come and say why do we keep these services?
There is not a Passover season that goes by that I do not feel the wretchedness of my sinful flesh by these rites and ceremonies thereof, and even now a month away for us that I do not think of my vial nature and how if the stars are not clean before YHWH how much more one born of a woman even if he is bathed in pure water?

Now some fool will boast against God’s word, his ordained worship and rival Heb_10:3 ‘s better promises of the New Covenant against this confession, they so often say see you ever year like in the OC have you sins brought back to remembrance because you keep the feasts, but it is not my past sins that I remember as millstones about by neck, it is the weight of the bondage of sin that dwelled in me of which I speak, as the sanctified and undoubtedly converted Apostle Paul as well confesses in Rom_7:23-25 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

O wretched man that I am!

who shall deliver me from the body of this death?

I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin.

No less described in 2Co_5:4 Which tells us of this tabernacle of a body we are in an how we do groan being burdened by it: and yet we still do not want to be unclothed of it, but our mortality rather must be clothed that it might be swallowed up by life.

So it is not that my sins are oft brought to my remembrance as not forgiven, rather it is the filth of my imperfection to be Holy which draws the perfection of my savior to my heart and mind and streangth.
I believe it was Thomas Watson, a famous Puritan minister who once said:
There are 3 reasons why people repent and continue to do so:
1. To get to heaven
2. To escape hell
3. Because they love God
Only one of these answers is right one, and it is the only answer that God has respect to and authorizes (not a direct quote).
Love is the dividing force of flesh and spirit, love is the driving force that keeps the sinner repenting through his progressive sanctification, nothing less will do.

YHWH’s sanctification is best understood by His own word, a word that pleads with us to reform, it calls unto our heart if we can but hear, it offers Grace greater than what we can afford through faith we don’t understand from where it came and where it will take us, So is every one born of the spirit who hears the voice of YHWH’s Word in the person of Jesus Christ calling us to worship according to his essence of being. And so If you have not made plans to keep the Passover, or you have missed you month of ABIB, or you were in a journey from YHWH and have heard the call to return, or if you have spiritually of physically been defiled by the dead body of man, you can still make the appointed season if you set your heart to it. There are no excuses that apply

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
