Our Regulative Principle of Worship

Part 1

The Sufficiency of Scripture & True Worship

Hebrews 13:20-21 will be our prayer for this Bible Study

for the remainder of this Month:

God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus,
that great shepherd of the sheep,

through the blood of the everlasting covenant,
Make us perfect in every good work

to do YOUR will,
work in us that which is wellpleasing in YOUR sight,

We do ask this through Jesus Christ

to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.

Deu_4:1  Now therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers giveth you.
Deu 4:2  Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you.
Deu 4:3  Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
Deu 4:4  But ye that did cleave unto the LORD your God are alive every one of you this day.
Deu 4:5  Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Deu 4:6  Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Deu 4:7  For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the LORD our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Deu 4:8  And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
Deu 4:9  Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Deu 4:10  Specially the day that thou stoodest before the LORD thy God in Horeb, when the LORD said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.

Sola Scriptura, simply means ‘Scripture alone’, because it is Scripture which regulates and gives the principles of our life and our rule of Faith and Practice as the Covenant people of God, those who have a desire ‘to know the will of God and to live it our ‘ Go to the bible’…
And From Sola Scriptura comes the doctrine of the sufficiency of scripture which also we must hold firmly, this is the attestation to that belief which says ‘YHWH God places in a believer by the work of the Holy Spirit a desires of truth in the inward parts and/or to have Faith in the Words of God.

And so, our spirit which identifies with God’s Spirit cries Abba Father, and we recognize the testimonies of God’s work by his Word, and that those are the only rule of Faith for our live and our worship. We therefore by the Spirit of God recognize the Holy Scripture, the bible and nothing else as the guide for our spiritual conduct and life; and that is to say that Scripture is Sufficient, or able to satisfy- it satisfies us as Christians by teaching us what is the Holy, right and good, and what the right Faith is to look like in our life and worship, there for what is the Law of God. Scripture is sufficient for all questions that a Christian may ask or need, what we may think or want in this life, most especially and focally on our Worship.

So we have the Great life changing and Reforming Principle Sola Scriptura / Scripture alone and from this principle flows out the Sufficiency of Scripture to govern our Faith and life of Worship.

Now remember, the Christians reasonable service is to be a living sacrifice:

Rom_12:1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
Rom 12:2  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
Rom 12:3  For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Sacrifice is a form of Worship unto God, since the days of righteous Able who offered of the fattest of his flock men have sacrificed and offered of their substance to God, and while the form of the Sacrifice and offering was important to God, that is how men killed the animal or presented the grain or wine or oil or instance the timing was important, what day it was done or time of the common day, also and most importantly was the heart, mind and soul behind the sacrificial worship, that was foremost important before God. That the worshiper had a will: heart mind and soul to worship God according to his word. This is most important because this is where faith fills in the gaps, so to speak, in our cracked and faulted worship which is in fact not holy in comparison to God’s holiness, it is not pure in comparison to God’s purity, it is not god or righteous at all stained with the infirmity of our flesh, therefore the Book of Hebrews 11:6 declares this plain biblical truth:

Heb_11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

In this verse their is a mention of the Name of God as it is understood, as the He Is or YAH of YHWH, and that Eternal and omnipresent and omnipotent Only God is invoked 2 times in the confirmation faith which pleases God, that is that we believe He IS and that He IS the rewarder of the diligent that seek YHWH.
This is the acknowledgment that you are naked before for him he knows the intents of our faith, and he know why we come before him and if it is to please him or not.

See in reality God needs nothing from us he is sufficient of himself, but he made us to worship him and him alone, and the worship which YHWH God is pleased with is a worship that is sacrificial and offering of ourselves to his will despite our own worldly mind. YHWH is pleased that we desire to please him, and that pleasure is tested or tried or proved by how we seek him if it be diligently by Faith faithfully.

And again this is simply that we recognize the nature of Our LORD GOD almighty as YHWH the Eternal and omniscient He that Is, so in sacrifice this revelation of Faith acknowledges that anything we give God is but a ritual in his sight, we are giving to God only what he has give us which we only call our own! This is the recognition in Sacrifice, offering and worship.
John 4, to receive of the primary principles of worship to see an eternal concept Our Lord teaches a woman who was involved in wrong worship in need to be corrected, this verse expresses like Heb 11:6 one of the first things a worshiper needs to logically understand:

Joh_4:23  But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him.
Joh 4:24  God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Go to see the nature of Worship by sacrifice and other God appointed means:

Psa_50:5  Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
Psa 50:6  And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.
Psa 50:7  Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God.
Psa 50:8  I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me.
Psa 50:9  I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of thy folds.
Psa 50:10  For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills.
Psa 50:11  I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field are mine.
Psa 50:12  If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fulness thereof.
Psa 50:13  Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?

And so, look at the statement YHWH God makes to His Saints Israel concerning their sacrifices and worships, he says I don’t need your flesh and blood of bulls and goats they are mine already, the earth is the LORD he says and all that is in it!
But here is what he says to his saints that have come together to make a sacrifice, he says:

Psa 50:14  Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High:
Psa 50:15  And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

God says I’m not upset with you flesh and blood worship, but I want you to offer all your sacrifices and make all your vows and covenant with Thanks giving!

Now look at what he says to the wicked:

Psa 50:16  But unto the wicked God saith, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth?
Psa 50:17  Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee.
Notice what he Says here:
those who hate God’s instructions that is His Word, the Law and the other holy scriptures are Wicked and have no right even speaking of God’s statutes and they have no right talking about His Covenant of Grace.

Rather here is what these men are prone to:

Psa 50:18  When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.
Psa 50:19  Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth deceit.
Psa 50:20  Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mother’s son.

This is what is natural and part and parcel to the will of the man who hates instruction and will cast the Word of God, the Law of God, the instruction delivered by God behind them.
And now look at v 21-23 and see what the LORD concludes with:

Psa 50:21  These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes.
Psa 50:22  Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver.
Psa 50:23  Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.

The Brenton LXX says it thus:
Psa_50:23  The sacrifice of praise will glorify me: and that is the way wherein I will shew to him the salvation of God.

And so God says, do you want to draw unto me in sacrifice? Do you want to claim the blood of my Covenant sealed with the blood of my Son as a lamb slain since the foundations of the world?
Then you first recognize this

v.6 The heavens already and ever shall declare YHWH God’s righteousness: and for God is judge all by himself
Look at how I own the world and I judge all things righteously. If God wanted the best bull or goat he would take it and not ask, it is his.

Therefore the sacrifice, the offering of true worship, true praise and glorification unto God is found in your Faithful thanks giving that you sacrifices testify of. It is not found in the mentality of wickedness that says LORD GOD of Heaven and Earth I will give you some of what is mine!
That mentality is a kin to thievery, adultery, corrupt communication and false witness, and slander of your own race and family. The mentality that thinks it own anything before the claim of the LORD God is no different than a thieves mentality or an adulterer’s heart, or a liars mouth, and the soul of those who are engaged in hating their own race, slandering their own flesh and blood.
But the sacrifice of praise, is the offering of thanks giving, the acknowledgment that you have been blessed with your substance -yes, but more so that you have been blessed with your covenant and saint ship- and the sacrifice of pure worship knows in his soul that you give God of the best of what you have to offer because it is he that has given it first to you.

Do we not see the very image of this perfection the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, who is the intimate image of sacrifice, offering and worship?
Consider Christ’s own testimony:

Joh_6:38  For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

From Heaven and the very bosom of the Father to offer himself to God that we might have of his Holy Spirit.
So when we think of Sacrifice we are thinking of worship which eliminates our wants and desire, which our fleshly or carnal mind may want, our mind and reasonable service is to give back to God what he has given us and to do so by desiring his instructions to please him, to be thankful that he has given us his word, and we therefore place it before our eyes that we might walk in it’s way thank fully.

The Regulative principle of worship is this foremost, that our worship be only that which his word has taught us, in this way as Psa_50:23. Will, our sacrifice of praise glorify GOD: in that it is the way wherein he will shew to us the salvation of God?

We often time think of Salvation first and foremost in a believers life and in every individuals life, Salvation and the knowledge of that Covenant must be at the forefront of our life.
But the means of our worship, the sacrifice of our life in praise and thanks giving which is the way wherein we are shown the salvation of God and we show the salvation of God to others.

About JS Lowther

Foremost I know that I am a chief sinner saved by Grace. I am a servant of YHWH Almighty the one true God Who is Father, Son and Spirit. I believe in God's only begotten and perfect Son Jesu(s) Christ whose redemption power of my soul I have Faith in and testify of. Having been redeemed by the blood of Christ, I wish to no longer spend my time in the lusts of the flesh and of this world, but to promote the Gospel of the Kingdom by means of the knowledge of the New Covenant, a reNewal of the Covenant God made with his people Israel in the blood of Christ (Jer 31:31 and Heb 8:8) whereby He writes His Law upon the Heart and Mind beside the forgiveness of sin and transgressions. I believe Christ Jesus is the incarnate Son of God as the WORD made flesh, and the son of man born of the virgin Mary conceived of the Holy Spirit: I believe Christ Jesus Lived a perfect life for us as a living sacrifice as well as a pattern of the Sanctified newness of life a believer has in Him, I believe Christ Jesus died a cursed death on the Cross for His people of Covenant who are sinners, and I believe in Christ Jesus who Resurrected with power from Death from the grave to Justify the offenders. This is the same Jesus who is indeed the Son of David and king of Israel, who is both LORD and Christ over all the kings and dominions of the earth! In the fullness of time YHWH will regather his people under the Head of the Church, Jesu(s) Christ to affect his will according to the Lord's prayer, Psalm 2, 8 and 110 as well as Genesis 1:26. The focus of my administration of the Gospel is like unto my Lord's who said "I have come not but for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.."(Mathew 15:24), and so I have come to my European kinsman according to the flesh. It is my mission to show the Israel of God the Salvation which is taught by Scripture Alone and offered in all ages by Grace Alone through Faith Alone in the work of Christ Alone to the Glory of GOD Alone. As a modern day Puritan separatist it is my goal to purify the church of Christ with Faith heretofore stated. I am studying to show my self approved, if you have any questions just ask!
